What car did you trade for your GT4?
After 12 years with a Ferrari 360 (F1 transmission) and 25,000 miles I was ready for something new! High maintenance costs and reluctance to push the limits of the car reduced my desire to keep the 360! When friends were planning a drive through the mountains in NC-TN and I decided to take my '16 BMW M3 instead of the Ferrari I knew it was time!
What did you trade and why? What other cars did you consider and what clinched it for you and the GT4?
My considerations were manual transmission- ability to drive on track and street without extra set up.
- GT3 2007-2011 (Too similar to 997.2 I owned a few years ago)
- GT3 RS 2007-2011 (nice examples too valuable for regular daily use, less costly examples beaten to death)!
- 2016/7 Shelby GT350 or GT350R) interior same as a rental car- other than seats
- Corvette ZO6 (too fast, scary to drive at speed)!
Current and past cars
- 16, BMW M3 (DCT) daily driver
- 00 Ferrari 360 (traded for GT4)
- 14 Cayman
- 11 BMW 135i
- 10 997.2
- 07 Audi RS4

Traded a modded, track-ready 987 Cayman R. Why? 3.8 engine, GT3 suspension and most importantly proper brakes. Updating the brakes further on the R would have been too expensive and I got top $$$ (rather €€€) for the Cayman R.
I was super lucky to get a GT4, walked into my local dealer in April/May and he was able to get me an allocation, I built the car to my personal preferences. Delivery on Friday!!
Alternatives? Not really. Love mid engined cars, drove an Elise R, 986 Boxster, Evora S and the 987R before. BMW M models could work for me, like how easy to drive / drift they are, but local dealership sucks (they don't take me serious if I enter the dealership in jeans and sneaker, but will never dress up for throwing my money at them, have to wear business suits 5 days a week).

had 'Vettes for the last 18 years, so time for a change.
considered Shelby GT350R, Viper ACR-E, C7 Grand Sport (but wanted a change from Corvette).
It had to be a manual, track focused car, but also one that I could drive to work, dinner, etc..subtle yet racy looks (out goes Viper and Vette)

Raining yellow 991S. I wanted a driver that would depreciate slower than my 991. I had a 2007 Cayman S before the 991 and loved the way it drove. PDK was too blah around town since it shifted to 7th ASAP and the manual in the GT4 is unbelievable!
