Lug nut Socket

Has anyone tried a non marring lug nut socket on the GT4's wheel that they can recommend??

Thank you,

Right here, hands down: .

Impact-compatible, thin wall, plastic sheath on the outside to protect the wheel (removable in case it makes the socket too thick, though not an issue on the GT4 wheels), and long enough that you won't even need an extension -- what more can you ask for? The paint finish is gorgeous, but it's also only about a micron thick, so expect it to start chipping right away, but other than that I love these sockets. I also have the blue 17mm version for the M3 I just traded in and my wife's Mini, and if you have a need for that size as well as a 21mm, they sell a 3-piece set here: . The product image makes it look like these sockets aren't the extra long variety, but the part numbers they quote are the extra long version, so I assume that's what you'd get, but not having bought the set myself I can't be sure.

Highly rated and is cheaper, but I don't believe it's designed for impact wrenches. It's all a matter of choice. I personally don't use anything other than a manual torque wrench on wheels.

I only use manual torque wrenches as well. That looks like a perfectly good socket, although I can't help but notice that yours isn't nearly as long as mine. (Seriously though, I'd be surprised if you were able to hold a torque wrench or breaker bar at a 90-degree angle on the rear wheels without an extension if you were using that socket.)

I wonder where they came up with the dimensions listed under Product Information - Technical Details. Based on those listed on Amazon I would expect it to have an elliptical shape: 6.6 x 1.9 x 1.2

:p

Remember old 911s had aliuminm lug nuts. I had a scocket called Soft Scocket . It was metal with an nylon liner on the inside of the scocket. Worked well but wore out quickly.

That was before they figured out it was cheaper to use a bolt. Even though a stud and nut is better and stronger. Carl

Actually more than enough clearance for the rears. We're not talking dished 3-pieces here. That's your El Camino :p

I use my fingers. That way I'm absolutely certain no harm will be done.

I have been using this for more than 7 years. Great price, great quality and impact compatible. But I wish it's a little bit longer (1-2mm longer) for rear wheels with more concavity.

I have this from HF:

I know, it's HF, but the quality seems fine, and looks exactly like the other sockets shown in this thread. Not that you need 7 sockets! I only use the gold one...
