GT4 Special Wishes Build
 

I picked up my GT4 last year and have been wondering how I might get some details on the build. As you can see by the window sticker, there is a 15K charge for Special Wishes. I'm not sure what that includes. The car is swathed in leather, black endplates on the wing, and black mirrors, which appear to be painted. It also has stripes which I always assumed were decals, but I'm not sure there either. The entire car is covered in PPF so it's not so easy to be certain. Is there a path to get the details on the Special Wishes?

Wow, That has got to be the one of the all time highest msrp for a non-PTS 981 GT4. Looks like it’s an option for those that just want to do something different to their car. Google search turned in the following…

it looks like pretty much every option was check on this one. the 15k for the special wishes build cant just be for leather wrapped air vents - thats outrageous. might help to throw some pics of the interior up, might make it easier to see what else was done. but if the stripe, mirrors and wing endplates are painted and not stickered - thats probably part of it as well

Some regular on here had a special wishes GT4 with painted stripes; to my memory it looked exactly like that, and when he listed the car on here for sale he made a big deal out of that. Should be findable with some searching.

I had a $150,000 996TT X50 back in the day with $35,000 worth of options; the X50 was $17k of that and the 0ther 18k ($32,000 inflation-adjusted) was leather, and this on a car (Turbo) that already covers everything in leather! Additional costs (from memory) were for upgrading all leather to their premium, Aniline Dyed leather, seatbacks, rear console, speaker grills, instrument panel (underneath the plastic, the part the 5 instruments were in was leather), coathooks, fuse box cover, and a few other places. I picked it up used at 17,000 miles and paid maybe $5k more for it than a standard $115,000 Turbo was going for at that time, and all of that was for the X50 Powerkit option. The leather brought nothing.

Well, searching the forum I found a post from the individual I purchased the car from looking for the same thing, information. But so far nothing is definitive on what "Custom Tailoring" entails. I've reached out to the dealership where the car was ordered.

To wrap this up. The best I can tell the custom tailoring included the gloss black wing endplates and mirrors, along with the extensive interior options, which best I can tell, were not available with a standard order. The stripes are not painted.

was that the one with the red stripes, painted mirror and end plates? and yes those stripes look painted which if i recall is only possible from the dealer with the cxx options

Wow... all boxes except PTS and Euro Delivery were selected on this build!

Most of the leather interior (including the leather surrounds, leather encased vent slats etc) and the stitching were options you could spec via the configurator (I did some of the leather and painted air vents in PTS color). And the option list calls them out individually.

So the Sonderwunsch parts must be the extra painted parts. Any pictures of the inside? Maybe there are some other items inside. The stripes and Porsche script were (are?) available directly from Porsche via Techequipment as stickers. Maybe they were included in the Sonderwunsch price? I remember them being in the 4 digits.

I'm not sure what was available to order at the time and what wasn't. Is there a source for the 2016 Order Guide?

I was able to get the build sheet from the selling dealer, which does not show the $15K Sonderwunsch charge and what's included. The Marooney label does show the charge of course. I also ran the detailed report from VIN Analytics, which shows Exterior Package in Black (High-Gloss). Things I see on the car not listed in the build are black gloss painted mirrors and wing caps, the stripes/decals/ and the illuminated carbon fiber sill covers. The car also has a full PPF wrap, but I assume that was done post-delivery. I'd love to get my hands on additional documentation, but not sure where to go from here.

I am going from memory (having spent weeks back in 2015 on the configurator specing my car). The PPF was definitely post-delivery. The stripes and decals were available from Porsche separately, but not part of the configurator. I don't remember if there was an Exterior Package in Black, but knowing Porsche, it could have well been. The painted mirrors and wing caps were not options in the configurator, but 15k for that seems a lot. Does the car have special seat inserts or some special deviated stitching or painted trim beyond the usual? My GT4 has a few of the extended leather options that were available through the configurator (like extended dash, steering wheel cover, shift console surround), but not as many as this car.

I reached out to Porsche Exclusive and it seems the following make up the Special Wishes charge. It looks like all the leather bits were options. The only interior enhancement is the door sills. The stripes, mirrors, wing end plates, and tail lights are the rest of it.
