Co owning a car
Hi I can't find any information on this, but if you Co-own a car, does it count as two owners in carfax? Anyone have any idea?

Are you referring to two names on the title, e.g., husband and wife?
Using this example, this should only count as a “one” owner vehicle even though two names exist on the title. For me the term “owner” means how many times it has switched ownership vs. title names. |
How many owners is determined by how many title changes with a different owner listed. New title= new owner as far as carfax is concerned.

If that co-ownership is through a company, that may appear on the CarFax as a corporate owned vehicle. Co-ownership is one "owner" as others have pointed out.

Common with aircraft that multiple owners will set it up under an LLC. Each owner buys a share in that company.
Even single owner aircraft will often do this just to provide some asset separation. Always wondered how common this is for expensive cars. Just set up an LLC based out of Montana and title all your cars through that. |
Interestingly had a situation where the owner transferred the car into their trust. Carfax counted it as a second owner.

Bought a 3 owner 996 turbo. The POs company bought the car new, eventually he transferred it to himself. He then moved to a different state and registered it there. At the time he was the only owner. When I bought it from him Carfax listed me as 4th owner.
