Default Porsche halting production.

I know this is secondary to the troubles the Ukrainians are going through. But if you have a car in the pipeline, it is gonna be awhile it seems.

Wonder if the Model year changeover gets delayed as well to reduce the loss in 2022 production numbers.

I have a Cayenne GTS being built right now, SA told me it was almost finished on Thursday 03/03. By the sounds of this I might be OK but I don't know, will see what happens next week.

interesting you mention model year. I agree. Waiting forever for a vehicle, it finally shows up in September, if it’s a 2022, it’s truly a 1 year old car.

and you don’t get a discount. I have a June delivery scheduled before the Ukraine invasion. With all that is happening, it will be months later.

I don’t know. It seems to be very bad inventory management. You would think Porsche would have more wiring harnesses and whatever on hand to avoid this kind of production disruption. The lack of accurate information, simply compounds the issue…

2022 might be a very rare model year.

Most manufacturing run on this "just in time" inventory process. It saves money (lots of it) and keeps inventory fresh. Lots of industries, even down to your local grocery stores, now run this way. This became really evident during this past plague, when the shelves emptied out very quickly and we had to wait for the disrupted supply chain to mend itself and catch up. Is it ideal? Not in a time of crisis, no way. But all other times, yeah, it works pretty damn good.

Damn what a bummer, especially to those that lost their cars in Felicity Ace fire/sinking.

On the other hand, feeling for the Ukrainian folks (I’m Polish myself so the war definitely hits close to home). Hope the war stops soon and Porsche can get back to manufacturing cars.

anyone know / have any scoop on if Porsche is working on moving wiring harness to a different region / country? I read that "Volkswagen" (as well as other German manufacturers) are working to move production of wiring harness to North Africa, other parts of eastern europe, mexico, china. etc. Of course that transition can't be an overnight change...
