Default 2019 Vanity plate fees

Hello and happy Friday.

i recently got back into the market for a vanity plate (last time was late 80’s) and am shocked at the increased prices. Texas especially seems to have realized the revenue stream potential. Texas is $100 to $200 a year depending on length of purchase/lease of said vanity plate.

Just courious what does a noncharity supporting vanity plates cost in your area for a year? Are they worth it in your opinion?

I believe NJ is the same as a regular plate registration. I just paid an extra $50 for the plate when I ordered it

For Georgia you pay $20.00 for annual registration and a vanity plate is an additional $35.00. This applies to cars and motorcycles.

Extra $25 here in FL for all types, and the non-profits get a cut.

Default Seem like Texas is really high

Okay thanks everyone.
Per this link, is it me or is Texas marking an obscene profit compared to other states?

On the surface, yes; however, what is your income tax, etc.? We have higher fees than most states here in FL but we have no state income tax.

More in the $25 range as I recall here in Iowa. I really like the Texas My Plates site, though. Their various Iowa collegiate plates are better looking than our own.

Hence the name "Vanity".

Cost isn't the driver of reasoning to have one.

This is an opinion....since it was asked for.

Ordinary vanity plates are for peons. How about a low number plate from Delaware for six figures:
"The black-and-white Delaware tag no. 20 went for $410,000 at an auction run by Emmert Auction Associates."

Britain has a website that sells low number/letter plates for big bucks, too.

Take your pick. Bring cash.

Default Registration

I have a question I'm purchasing my car in Atlanta at a dealership but I have plates in New York that I would like to transfer and they're telling me I cannot do that that I have to get new plates from them. what I don't understand is it'll be cheaper for me to just transfer my plates to this new vehicle as opposed to buying a new plate registering a new plate I guess I want to know is that true that you cannot transfer plates to a new vehicle because it's from a dealership out of state

Just tell them to give you a temp tag and do the swap yourself at the DMV.

Plates are state specific. Get a temp tag from the dealer (unless the car is being shipped).

most states do not allow plate transfers. You are issued new plates. Is the case in Mo, FL, TX and VA.
