Ok. I'm Canadian living in US. So not really familiar with how politics work in US.
But main question:
1) Can trump impose tariff on cars without agreement from senates (or sth)
2) Can it take effect immediately?
3) Will it affect my Nov 30th car delivery ????? (Most important question

)2) yes, look at steel/alum tariffs that just took place a few months ago
3) hard to say
for the record, tariffs are generally a very dumb idea. Far more people will be paying higher prices for cars compared to the number of people positively affected by the tariff. But, it does still suck that Europe and China tax the hell out of American cars.

1) yes, section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 which permits the US to impose tariffs for national security reasons.
2) yes, look at steel/alum tariffs that just took place a few months ago

for the record, tariffs are generally a very dumb idea. Far more people will be paying higher prices for cars compared to the number of people positively affected by the tariff. But, it does still suck that Europe and China tax the hell out of American cars.

Exact reason why I left Canada and never looked back. Funny thing is, P cars are cheaper in Canada.
Its gonna really suck if he starts taxing on import cars. Ill prolly suck it up and pay tax I guess.
