911 base vs. Corvette Z06
#2
I can't speak to the 911 as I don't have one. I actually posted a thread looking for some insight since I am looking for one.
I do have a Z06 and can say with absolute impunity that it is a thrilling car to drive tame enough to use every day. This car
is the very first car I have not had to do a single thing to improve the audio or increase the bass I love so much. Mine is a
convertible so I can't track it but otherwise it never disappoints.

One is way faster in a straight line, the other is going to connect you to the road/handle better IMHO. Definitely positives for both - pure speed of a Z06 vs. a base 911 in a straight line is pretty different. Great write-up here. https://cars.usnews.com/cars-trucks/...17-porsche-911.
This is a porsche forum though, probably a little biased. If you are looking at a 2-seat Z06, and you want to think outside the box a bit... if the Z06's are in the 80's, you could get yourself into a GT4 for a little more money... definitely still not as fast in a straight line, but will hold value better and be about as good a driver as ever made.

Bottom line, you need to drive both. The best scenario I can recommend and something I did is to go to Exotic Racing in Vegas.
Rent both cars, drive them hard on their track and one afternoon later I'm sure you'll have your answer. At the time I bought the Vette
I wasn't thinking about HPDE but in the course of that sunny day in Vegas, I'd bet dollars to donuts that the Z06 is just as capable
as the 911. In fact I paid for the two laps to be driven by their driver in a Z06. He educated me on just how capable the car really is.
When I went to the Ron Fellows school also in Nevada, they did the same with us on the last day and as hard as it was to accept, they
told us that even with them driving, the car was only being driven half as hard as it can handle.
Now resale value is something I have to agree on, the Vette will tank 40% by 24 months but I could care less as I intend to keep it for a few
more years.

Im 6'3" and have never been able to get comfortable in Corvettes. Cabin seems cramped, feel like I am looking through the sun visor even at the seats limited full recline. I feel the 911 cabin is quite roomy. If you are a bigger guy it is something to consider.

Both are awesome cars. Owned a 991.1S and now own a Z06.
I adore both cars for different reasons. The 911 has better visibility, a bit roomier and pdk rocks! They both handle great, above my abilities. The vette feels more like a sports car and wider/nastier. Both sound amazing. I like having a manual back in the Z06. The Porsche may be slightly better put together but I have no complaints on the vette quality or interior. I’m 6’2” and fit in the vette fine. You can’t make a mistake going with either car. Go out and drive them both.
