Bradley on the HP seems to think this is around the corner. And his reasoning is pretty solid. But I think the 911 is going to stay traditionally powered for the time being. What do you think? Five years?

They could even make a conversion retrofit, for all of those "rollers" left engine-less by IMS bearing failures :-)

Before major cities/countries ban the sale of new gasoline cars or gasoline car usage completely. I believe there are a few cities/Countries with plans in mind.

I think Paris and London are already planning on bans, though they don't kick in for a while.

There has been an outfit in Tampa, Fl that has had electric conversions for just about anything with a 200mm clutch (maybe 180mm also?) - so VWs, us 356 folk, 912s, 914, etc. are already set for conversions. Think this would cover early 911s also....

Price wasn't bad either - about what a rebuild on a 356 engine would be, at least when I looked a few years ago.

Porsche may offer them, but I'm a gearhead. I can't think of any reason I would ever want one unless they look like the real thing and are priced really cheap. ...like 50%

There is one thing I can promise for sure: I won't be living in a city that bans the ICE. I might own a cheap electric car under $25k that is useful around town and can take me on pub crawls. But it for sure won't be my sportscar used for pleasure!
