Changing your sunroof wind deflector - quick and easy!
The underside of the top flap of my sunroof wind deflector was rusty so I decided to replace the whole deflector.

Open sunroof and both doors.
Slide the little rubber stoppers off the pivot points of the upper flap.
Slide the retention arms and compression springs off too. Don't loose the springs or rubber stoppers!
The upper flap of the wind deflector is now free, gently fold it forwards and open.

Undo the large screws at each end holding the lower flap of the wind deflector to the car via a small bracket with a lock washer.
Undo the 2 small screws towards the centre of the car that holds the lower flap of the wind deflector to the car.
The whole hinged wind deflector should now just lift gently off the car (both upper and lower flaps).
The screw locations can be seen on the photos (taken from above the car looking directly downwards - left side then right side).

The retention arm can now be seen better too - the end round hole is for the pivot point on the upper flap of the wind deflector and the lower elongated hole is for the hooked end of the compression spring.

You can see how the two pieces are hinged -- this hinge is the clip that most people break (one of mine had already been re-glued by the p.o.).

Clean underneath where the wind deflector was -- lots of little pine needles and dirt.
Position the new wind deflector on the car and fasten with two small centre screws and then two large screws with brackets.
Hook the compression springs into the elongated slots of the retention arms and then slide onto pivot points of the upper flap.
Replace the rubber stoppers back on to secure the retention arms.
Open and close the sunroof and admire your handy-work.
Total time = 15 minutes. (but it is much harder and takes longer to do it one-handed so you can take pictures as you go).

The wind deflector makes a big difference to the ambient noise in the car. When the sunroof is open, try pulling the deflector down with your fingers when driving at freeway speeds. Even that funny little flap in the middle reduces wind noise significantly.
