Who's buying it! 400 Hp in a Cayman, that would be an absolute blast to drive!

I would be curious to know how much modification was necessary to drop in the larger engine.

Indeed. Only thing conceptually similar I know of is RUF's 3800S which has a 991 engine in a 981 Cayman/Boxster chassis.

BGB - very cool build.

What do you guys think personally? I was hesitant to put springs on because it's not OE but is someone that is going to buy this car, already going to want springs?!?

Btw I'm curious, what transmission did you guys use with the 3.8L 991S engine?

I wouldn't put springs on - Someone buying that car won't care if you've done the work or not. I wouldn't at least- I'd leave it OE. .02

We used the most robust Porsche transmission we have ever seen, which is the 987.2 Getrag that was carried over to the 981 program. It comes equipped from the dealership with a transmission heat exchanger and it's the same transmission that we knew would not let us down at the Rolex 24. When we lost the clutch for the final 2 hours, the gearbox was up to the additional stress and abuse. It is the most reliable trans we have seen in endurance racing and we have gotten as much as 22 weekends out of them suffering the most abusive treatment. I believe that transmission exists only a diesel Audi in Europe, which makes a bunch of torque. I think that the beauty is in the synchros that are lined with carbon material.

I'm with you on this one but was out-voted by the boss and the wheel maker. Maybe we'll offer to remove them and re-align for free for anyone that wants the car.

Great build, that thing must absolutely fly.

Could you mate that engine with the PDK transmission?

But I'd leave the H&R springs off too.
