I'm pretty confused on the valve controller side of things, and which model to order, and what is involved in installation. What I really want is to be able to control the valves in the car from the factory centre console button. When I open them, I want them to stay open all the time. When closed, it can be as per factory operation.

Cargraphics have this model: EXFLAPRCPO1OES

Which seems to be the right one, as it doesn't come with remote controls (which I don't really want), but the installation guide HERE shows cutting in the carpet required? (which I definately dont want to do)

The model with the remotes seems a much easier installation.. ?

Am I missing something here?

After tracking my 4RS in 24/25, I finally just had the Manthey dampers installed
The car followed pretty much the usual route of owners on this forum for the past couple of years.
Ended up with the usual Girodisc, rear toe links, camber plates, aggressive alignment, oem wheel sizes, soul oap's....
Also SSR front splitter and Silver Rocket DRS wing and ducktail gurney flap...
Then finally Suspension Secrets springs and anti bump steer tie rod ends...
While I was pretty happy with a very fun and different Porsche, it just did not match the finesse of my past Porsche track cars which were much less modified...

Hence the Manthey damper decision, my observations based on one track day, PCA, so no timing allowed:

- pogoing pretty much eliminated
- axle hop on acceleration off bumpy corner exits pretty much gone
- understeer threat on turn in so much better, car is much lower than SS setup, estimate 30-40 mm at least, seems to love being "on its nose"...
- car can "run modest curbs" something that upset the car previously...

Surely the best overall mod I have done, imho
I wish I had done them first!
The Manthey value proposition has been beaten to death here, I will not add any fuel to that fire!

YMMV
Cheers!

I have a set of Girodisc (front and rear) ready for install on my GTS. My mechanic tells me that he ran into an issue with GT4 when installing Girodisc rotor at the rear. He said after the rear Girodisc install, the GT4 throw a parking brake warning because the gap between the brake shoes and disc were too large. He had to send the car to the dealer and code the brake into PCCB for the warning to go away. Can someone who has installed Girodisc on their GTS comment on this ?

I just bet that the SRS crowd won't be able to contain themselves! :D

This video is about the 718 Spyder, particularly a manual transmission version, it does not throw the SRS under the bus, it is more about how this car stands on it's own with a configuration that is somewhat unique these days. But they will come, tell us that it needs the GT3 engine, an ear splitting intake and a computer shifted PDK to even be considered special. I (and many others) think that this is tunnel vision, the SRS is very cool but in my opinion it is different not better.

Let the fun begin!

I've been through this once already with my s2000. So I stocked up: wheels with the insane offsets, grabbed a hardtop at OEM prices, and especially the aftermarket parts that might need replacing because they stopped being made even faster.

So, what parts are you all planning on stocking up on for the eventual demise of aftermarket parts and primary parts. Especially considering the rough spot Porsche finds itself in.

Have a 718 Spyder in GT Silver. I managed to hit a low curb in a garage, couldn't see it after I took the ticket. Paint scraped on the underside of the panel under the driver's side door, mostly not visible.

I bought some OEM touch up paint to do it myself, but thought better of it and brought it to a Porsche shop. They're saying that touch up paint will peel within a year or two, and that sanding the scraped area it and really painting it with GT Silver is the right way to go. Roughly $1,100.

They'll remove the panel, sand and put color on the affected area and then clearcoat the whole panel. I'm nervous the clearcoat will make the panel, which other than the underside is fine, no longer match the rest of the car. Any take on touch up paint vs. paint and whether the clearcoat could mess up the whole panel? Thanks in advance!

Purchased my Artic Grey 2024 SRS in September 2025.
I paid msrp plus the cost of a partial wrap.
I have done the following "upgrades" and I think I'm done - for now.
My "upgrades," which actually seem to be mostly more like additional "insurance" are:
1. Complete XPEL ppf covering the entire car, windshield ppf and full ceramic coating including wheels, and convertible top treatment;
2. OEM Weissach car cover, and Spyder Cover for the cockpit;
3. Frunk liner (actually from my previous 991.2 Targa GTS;)
4. Edguards bolster protectors with seat belt loops;
5. In the process of replacing my mag wheels with VT Forged GTB Comp Spec 2 piece with PS4's- the oem mags, in my opinion, are way to fragile for the Long Island trails they call "roads," and my perfect originial mag wheels and Dunlap

I wanted to change the look of my carbon fiber seats to add a splash of yellow to match the exterior of Yellow Banana (as my kids call it). I saw some posts from users of the work VoltageGSR is doing. So I decided to give it a try. I ordered

Seat bolster protectors

Seat insert covers

Seat headrest cover (for track use to prevent the helmet and Hans device from scratching the leather

steering column case in leather

All these items were ordered with deviated yellow stitching which my car has. My interior trim experience with any of these kind of projects is 0 so I was nervous on if I'm taking on more than I can handle and do I want to experiment on this car. I was prepared to throw in the towel and call my Porsche Service center to do the work. VoltageGSR and I probably texted at 50 times - he sent me install videos and pictures of how to do it. That gave me the confidence that it's worth trying.

I have been doing this project in pieces.

2 weekends ago I installed the seat inserts. It was very easy. I did watch the videos that VoltageGSR sent to me and also some others on YouTube. One of the YouTube vids referred to disconnecting battery if pulling bottom seat insert as there is an airbag clip on passenger side. Others said non need to disconnect, including VoltageGSR. So I decided not to do that. This was a very easy job - probably 30 minutes total. Only hard part is tucking the passenger side rubber molding onto the strip on the bottom of passenger side seat - more so because there is a fire extinguisher in place. Driver side was very easy. I was a bit sus on how strong these Velcro's would be - boy they are strong. I have done a track day and they are good. They are really well made and look OEM. Everyone who has seen them has given compliments. Some pictures.

Today I tackled the seat bolsters. Drivers side took about 20 mins and passenger side about 10 mins. I had to remove the rubber molding that's on the front underside of the seat cushion - again passenger side was tricky because of fire extinguisher in the way. Most amount of time was to tuck in the leather under the seat height control button - I was scared I would put too much force and break it. The plastic trim tool supplied is a cheap bit but everything else seems very high quality. After putting them and viewing them from side and top, I cannot tell the bolsters are on and they match the leather and stitching in my car to my eye. I have harnesses and that makes tucking in the bolster cover a little tricky but once I played around with it, I got the hang of it. I did not put the Velcro on passenger side where the side harness is - may need a bit of adjustment before putting the sticky stuff on. Again very happy with it. Some pictures.

I have also received the steering column in leather with yellow deviated stitching. I will tackle that another weekend. I'm waiting for arrival for seat headrest covers but I have asked for a custom slip on type. Will post those when those are on the car.

Overall, so far very happy with the products and service. voltageGsR was very responsive on texts and making sure these products come in quickly.

Hello, I bought a 2021 718 boxster GTS 4.0 and it had been modified to straight pipe over axel exhaust. With the new car purchase the seller included the stock pipes. I don't know what to do with them. Are they something that I should just toss or are they something I could sell. I've been tripping over them in my garage for last 6 months and would love to get rid of them.
I daily drive my 718 Spyder and now have two wheel scrapes from rocks getting pinched between the caliper and the barrel of the wheel.
What is the standard fix for this?
Just repaint the inner barrel?

The car is a 2023 and I drive it everyday so I am sure this may happen again. Just wondering if anyone has experience with this.

Converting 991 AP Racing Brake Kit to GT4 RS

I currently have a line on an anodized AP Racing Brake Kit originally designed for a 991 GT3. I'm trying to figure out exactly what it takes to fit this onto my GT4 RS.
From my initial research, I understand that the GT4 RS uses the 991 GT3 front suspension architecture, so the front kit (394mm rotors with CP9661 calipers) should be a 100% direct bolt-on swap.
However, I'm trying to figure out the situation with the rear kit. Both kits use a 380x32mm iron ring. Interestingly, on the Essex website, the GT4 RS rear kit URL mentions CP9449, but the "What's in the Box" text specifies the CP9450 caliper, while the 991 kit uses the CP9449.

My questions for the brain trust (and hopefully @JRitt@essex if he's around):
1. Can the rear CP9449 calipers from the 991 kit be safely reused on the GT4 RS if I purchase separate caliper mounting brackets and aluminum rotor hats from Essex, or is there a piston sizing/hydraulic bias difference?
2. Are the 380x32mm rear rotor iron rings identical across both kits, or do they feature different offsets/radial depths that make them incompatible?
3. Has anyone here actually completed this cross-platform adaptation?

Appreciate any insights or part number guidance before I pull the trigger on these!

The car is amazing but it would be so much more fun if it was offered with the manual option, like the GT3. Who knows why Porsche didn't want to do it, but is there anyone or any shop that could reliably do a conversion on this car to give it a manual, similar to what they do with the older automatic transmission Ferraris?

Which SOUL Rear Muffler Section for GT4 718?

Already have the SOUL OAP's installed, and trying to decide now between the valved or race X-pipe for the rear...Having a mental crisis over it.

On the one plus side, the RACE X-Pipe is lighter, costs less, and, from what I can see/read online, makes more power. Matt from OG said it feels 20HP more on the butt dyno in his video on this setup (OAP's with race X-pipe).

On the downside, there is some drone between 2 and 3 thousand RPM reported (not sure thats a big deal as the car is not a daily driver) and you loose the valve operation for 'stealth mode. Again, Matt reports the exhaust tone being 'just right', but he couldn't live with the drone between 2&3k.....

The SOUL Valved section of course retains the valves, but 1: does it sound as good as the Race X pipe when the valves are open? And does it give the same HP bump? If it does, then its probably the way I need to go just to ensure the drone isnt an issue... if its a compromise in sound and power.. then I dont know....

So, should I spend the extra $ and get the valved system and have the best of both worlds? Or, is the valved system a compromise over the X-Pipe Race set up?

Any assistance on this mental breakdown I am having on this greatly appreciated.. import freight and taxes are high into AUD so need to get this right.

Plan to eventually add Street headers later on.. maybe in a year or two....
