Default ED wrap

First, "ED wrap" has Cialis' ad connotations

Second, what roads are 'you' (all) driving on to get "rocks". I have driven in Germany - a lot - lived there - and never got more than a windscreen issue (behind a truck on the A9). Where I live now causes stone chips etc to be a monthly occurrence, total PITA but I didn't get the front re-sprayed less the dealer think I'd had a major issue: let them fix the pits and know the car has not been 'front-ended'.

All this being said, I pick up my new 911 CS at Zuffenhausen in Mai; and I would like to know if a wrap can be done x-factory - yes, a question?

I am not sure the question of whether to wrap for a European delivery is any different than whether to wrap in the USA. I believe German rocks are the same threat as American rocks...

Well, the general condition of the roads, in Germany in particular, are much better than most of the US. Our roads here in NorCal are crumbling! It's atrocious!

That said, I am not taking any chances...
I contacted Jamie at PCNA after reading this. She says that in fact, this is not the case. There is a 3rd party nearby in Stuttgart that can do it. You need to arrange this on your own, well in advance.

I'll likely go this route. I'll update here if I do.

Yes. It's a third party vendor. They don't do paint correction, use Suntek and prefer color wraps to PPF. That having been said, I'm sure they do an excellent job but it's not sufficient presently as per my personal needs.

This was how I had my car wrapped during European delivery in Leipzig. They facilitated the 3rd party vendor. It did its job while we were there, but wasn't exactly a perfect install.

For the next trip, we are bringing track wrap and a nice razor for a temp solution. This will be good enough for the first few weeks. Www.tracwrap.com

Default Stuttgart wrap

The guys near the factory in Stuttgart do installs as well as any you'll find in the USA. They use Expel and are hyper OCD about getting it right. I am getting my new car in a few weeks and will use these guys. Here's an email he sent me this morning...

Hello Richard,

thanks for your request.
On the 911/Cayman/Boxster we usually wrap the following parts with paintprotection film/clear bra: (if you have another porsche like the 918/cayenne/panamera, please let me know)

- complete front bumper
- complete front hood
- complete front fenders
- parts of the roof/a-pillars
...and a few little others small parts

Price: 1.650,00 € excl. tax
Only cash or prepayment, no credit cards.
If you choose prepayment, please send me the adress for the invoice.

From Porsche Zuffenhausen you just need 5-10min. to our shop.
For the installation we need the car 1 day. So, if you want to finish the wrap on the same day, we need the car before 10am.
We are using precutted XPel Films for paint protections. The best clear films so far. Amazing transparency und easy to keep it clean. Long lifetime also. And self-healing!
XPEL gives a 10year warranty against fading into yellow.
(Examples see files attached)

if you have any questions, please let me know.
hope to see you and your car at the shop.

cheers
sandro :-)

Mit freundlichen Grüßen

Porsche kindly reached out to this vendor on my behalf on December 17th. Sandro quoted me one week for the wrap, a customer-direct price of over 5,000 Euro for a full clear wrap on my GTS Targa, and no paint correction or nano coating capability. (I'm not sure if this was for a custom wrap or precut as I never got far enough in conversation to clarify.) At the time, he also expressed a preference for a color change film (aesthetic but not PPF) vs Xpel.

While Sandro's pricing and lead time may have changed in the past few months, you may want to clarify these key points.

I'm not sure what I should clarify. The quote I posted is a cut & paste of the email from him. He also told me if I have it dropped-off before 10am, I can have the car back early the next morning (or same night if they're not swamped)

I've been in contact with them several times. I'm going to get the Xpel ultimate front end wrap. I may have them tint my windows at the same time.

I arranged with porsche to do my paperwork early in the morning, so I could get the car to schwabenfolia early, and have it back that same day. They will actually come to porsche and take it to their place, to save me time. They do this often..

Fantastic! I'm going to contact them now to ask if they'll do the same for me.

I also am having SchwabenFolia do a full XPEL wrap the morning of ED in June! I plan on getting ED, then carefully driving the car over to their shop and getting a ride back to the Porsche factory for tour, etc. Good fair price too.

Quick Reply: To wrap, or not to wrap, that is the question...
