Default Porsche Mechanic Recommendations Fairfield County, CT & Westchester, NY

Hi All,

I recently purchased a 1984 Targa 3.2 and live in the Weschester, NY - Lower Fairfield County, CT area. I'm on somewhat of a constricted budget and since it's a wealthy area with a lot of car enthusiasts, they're all big $$$. I'm hoping someone can recommend a great Porsche mechanic who may be willing to work with a new, younger and less liquid owner. Pipe dream? What are my best options anyway?

Thanks.

Good luck.
What does the car need?

As for excellent, Dan Jacob's Hairy Dog Garage in Southbury, CT and Spencer ***'s Speedsport Tuning in Danbury are tops but you're paying for it.
Your pipe dream exists when you find an 70s-80s Pcar parked next to a random indy/service/gas station and find out it belongs to the shop owner who does his own work. Needle in a haystack but that's the loophole out there.

Can second the recommendations for both Dan's and Spencer's shops.

Speed Sport in Danbury is always a great choice, as is Rennsport in Bedford Hills and Alfa Motors in Bridgeport

Mtech in New Rochelle has treated me well on my 996.

Where in Westchester are you?

I am in Armonk.

I know this thread is a couple of weeks old but I would recommend Dave at Butzi Gear in Milford CT. It is only another 30 minutes up I-95 from lower Ffld County. He is the shop owner and does great work at reasonable prices.

I can recommend Stuart from Morton Competition. I did my IMS replacement with him and general maintenance.

Thank you, all. People I have talked to in person have seconded a lot of your advice.

Another youngin in the car community mentioned Keanes Autoworks in Bedford, and that it's relatively very affordable.

Do you know where I can find a Great Expectations-style benefactor to help me with this?

Any last minute advice on dealing with mechanics/do it yourself would be helpful.

Thanks
