Default GA moutain drive 1/26

We've been talking about it on another thread, but noone has organized it, so here goes.

Meet at GA 400 outlet mall on friday morning at 10am? Dunkin Donuts parking lot

Who is in?
Hwy 400 ends at Dahlonega,.You go straight on a County Rd. (not on the above map). You turn right to Cleveland. Just before Cleveland, there is a bypass to Helen, GA.

We go to Helen, GA. Go north here on Hwy 75 past Helen to the Uniciol Gap on Blue Mountain (it's harder then it looks). And back down the Gap (brakes just slow you down)..

And over to Hwy 180 to Brasstown Bald (the highest point in GA) but you'll be in the middle of Jack's Gap. Stay focused..

I say pick up Hwy 129 South to but watch out for Neels Gap. It's always slow in and fast out on any turn here or at Road Atlanta

I'll be working. Have fun and be safe. Hopefully the roads are clear of salt/sand/gravel.

I'm in.

Is the donut place on the west side of Hwy 400 (@ the outlet mall)? It should be fun with not many other cars (or bikes) in the middle of the winter. Summer tires are good due to temps. There may be some gravel from the last snow on the edges of the road?

I'll bring a camera. Here is a picture taken below Brasstown Bald (Jacks Gap) taken with some early air-cooled 911 guys (I'm second from left, white shirt):

Thanks,
Heck, you are going to get in Atl morning traffic. I like your passion. I am thinking that you race those cars in SCCA or NASA?

This is great! We have four guys. It's not too late for anyone else to attend (call in sick with the flu).

Pictures to follow.

I'm in Loganville, going to go up 85 and across 53. shouldn't be much traffic. I used to run with NASA, but now pretty much just random track days with little known groups (JZilla, etc)

I was mostly HSR. I did a few NASA SE events. Jim P. was the owner. My track racing is over and done, and it's because of the costs. I can do a simple run in the north GA mountains while enjoying the ride and then saving around $25,000 a year.

We'll do some discussions on this after attacking some great roads in a Porsche.

It was a great time, and great meeting you guys. Looking forward to another! I drove home by Helen, and had to stop at those ice falls for a picture.

Great picture.

That was on Hwy 348 at Hogpen Gap and just above Helen, GA. We went north to Unicol Gap. We drove four of the six Gaps. We will do the 5th and 6th soon ((Wolfpen and Jacks Gap). Our first Gap was Neels Gap on Yellow Mountain off Hwy 129 from Dahlonega, GA.

I'm fairly new on here..Looking for my next Porsche (hopefully a Turbo)

I'm down in Cobb Co. and have been riding motorcycles in the GA mountains all my adult life.

Is there a GA group I can join on here to get up with some of you GA guys for drives like this? I'd love to meet up with you guys soon.

Thank you,

David
