I'm using a Fanatec DD2 currently, but want to go to the Simucube 2 Pro.

I ended up getting the Simucube 2 Pro and an Ascher F65 V3 from Gperformance. Excellent sales support, super-fast shipping to US. Prices considerably below Microcenter, helped by the strong dollar. I've ordered from Gperformance before and was also happy.

I’m not 100% sure if the Asus kit is just on back order or discontinued all together.

Bringing up the Asus Zero-Bezel kits since they are finally back in stock. I actually took apart an old LCD monitor to get the lens to build my own, and then, of course, shortly after that, I noticed finally had them back in stock again, so I just got the Asus kit. I got it from Amazon for $109 (

) and they work great and are definitely worth it on my LG 21:9 curved monitors. The LG's have large radius (modest curve), can't really say how they would work on more aggressive curves, but I'm very happy with bezel-free kit. I also noticed there is an Etsy seller who offers something similar to the Asus kit for much less (https://www.etsy.com/listing/1296495845/anti-bezel-bezel-free-kit?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_se arch_query=zero+bezel+kit&ref=sr_gallery-1-1&bes=1&edd=1&sts=1&organic_search_click=1[/ame]) -- I have no idea how these would compare with the Asus kit, and I have no relationship with the listing, but the reviews seem to be pretty good.

My sim seat is pretty worn and I'm looking for a replacement. I need a seat that reclines, not a fixed seat. Can anybody suggest a reclining sim seat they've been happy with? I've heard of that some people have created a custom form-fitting seat -- would also be interested in info on how to do that.

TrakRacer has some nice reclining options. They are having a sale as well. I am not an authorized retailer however one of my buddies is. Let me know if you see something you like. I can put you in contact with him. He owns Archangel Sim Group.

Does anybody know of a company that sells rigs for seats on which one can use their own bucket seat!?
I recently updated the seats in my track car and now have two spares that would be a great fit for a simulator rig.

Pretty much every sim racing rig that's built out of 8020 aluminum profile should let you use your own seat, I would think? You'll need to add the right brackets / sliders / whatever is needed to attach the seat to the frame.

Examples:

The problem with finding the "best" seat is that there are few local stores that have seats in stock, so it is impossible to try them out to know how they fit. I"m normally very comfortable with mail order for sim components, but for the seat, it's important to try it first because it would be difficult/expensive to return if the seat you order doesn't fit your body/needs.

We finally ended up with choosing an OMP seat. I couldn't find any seats on display to try out in local stores, but when we were at the 12 Hours of Sebring, we spoke to Wine Country Motorsports, who had a infield tent set up for the Sebring race, and also has a permanent store in the Sebring office area where they had about 8 seats on display to try out. The Wine Country salespeople were also very knowledgeable. Alex from Wine Country helped guide us through the seat selection process. We didn't have time to visit it, because we were flying out that evening, but apparently their store in Jupiter, Florida (where they ship online orders from) has about 70 (!) different brands and models of seats in stock. If you're looking for a seat, and are anywhere near Jupiter, FL, it seems like it would be well worth the trip to try out all the models they have in stock.

I’ve decided to change things up a bit and upgrade my sim racing chassis. I went with the Advanced Sim Racing ASR-F. Virtually all of my sim racing is formula style racing, so this made sense to me. I’ll report back when I’ve got it setup and had some experience with it. It has a specific wheel mount for my Fanatec Podium DD1 wheel. I opted for the aluminum pedal mounting plate and heel rest.
