Default 964 Exhaust Tip refinishing

All,

I'd like to refinish my factory 964 Tip. I have 2 currently. 1 is in original condition and the other I ran under a wire wheel to remove the surface rust and black paint on the tip.

Any thoughts on how to bring either of these tips back to factory original condition?

Thanks
JOhn

Take the wheel to the other one and then grab you some aluminum polish and start polishing. They should come out looking great. The heavy lifting is handled by the wheel.

Yeah. Or use some polish and steel wool.

I'm not really looking for a polished look but more of the original factory look. My biggest concern is matching the Matte Black Tip. Should I have the tip powder coated, painted or rattle canned?

This is for a Concours condition RS America.

Thanks
John

I would check with what the judges are looking for if you are looking at a Concours condition. They should have a judging rule book. I worked with a client on his 65 Corvette and they provided a book that indicated what things should look like and how it should be marked.

Thanks Hump!

Any judges on here.

Does anyone know of any such book for Porsches. I have a feeling it doesn't exist.

Thanks
John
