Default VBox CAN Integration with Bosch 5.2.2

I've been working with Racelogic for a few months and they have come up with a .ref file for the Bosch 5.2.2 DME. It provides RPM and throttle position at 500k bus speed. Many thanks to kgorman for proving that this DME does in fact have a CAN bus, even if there are no wires attached to it from the factory.

My understanding is that this applies to '99 996s, 97-99 Boxsters, and 996.1 Cup cars.

Great, this will be helpful to folks that could really benefit from this, specifically the SPB crowd. Jim, Bruce and the others at Racelogic are terrific.

Now to have AiM release one for the Solo DL (you can build one for the new dashes and loggers in RS3), and we will be covered for these cars and the F355C (which also uses 5.2) in MoTeC, VBOX and AiM.

I look forward to be able to test this very soon! Just got the new GT4 CS update, 991.1 GT3 Cup and working on 991.2 GT3 Cup protocol.

I'm trying to do the same thing with a 99 SPB - same DME. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

If anyone can share rhe CAN info, it's not hard to get it for the Solo DL and AiM Pista dashes. I'm happy to help with getting it done.

Chris Brown has the info. VBOX Setup now has an easy custom editor to write your own protocol with that info.

Great! Does it have a sniffer as well? Or does this just help with transcribing stuff already available on AIM to VBOX?

No sniffer. Both RS3 and VBOX Setup have the ability to add custom CAN information to animate gauges, bar indicators and numerical measures. Pretty cool. I broke down and bought a sniffer, but I'll be the first to tell you that I am very early in learning how to use it.

A great open source for useful information are the forums at Race Capture Pro.

Brent and his team have been very aggressive in tracking down and identifying this information from a variety of cars.

Looks like they have some tools for hackers. I'm surprised racelogic does not have anything dedicated to this task.

MoTeC has always had the ability to enter the information to build a config to read a particular stream. AiM added it to RS3 a little while ago and now Racelogic has added this capability in the June update.

I am not sure anyone other than RCP has integrated the hacking into the building of a protocol. May be a licensing issue, or preserving relationships with OEM's? I don't know.
