Default AiM EVO 4 GPS issue

Anyone ever saw this?

Yesterday, rainy trackday, the logger decided it would be a good idea to merge 3 laps into 1, give me one normal lap and again merge 2 laps into one.

Can tell you, works great for predictive lap times ...

At the same time I had an AiM Solo in the car and it seemed to have much better GPS reception than the EVO4 with roof antenna.

Any suggestions as to what to check? The car ran fine in the morning. This all happened in the afternoon.

Here a screenshot of the "triple lap"

Green = GPS Speed
Red = Wheel Speed
bottom graph = # sats

To fix the non-trigger of the "missing" start/finish coordinates, widen the timing track width in the EVO4 config by adding 5 meters to the track width over default.

I would guess this is not a track width issue. Look at the satellite plot and it loses a bunch when he has the long lap and actually drops to 4. Once the satellite plot is back to normal, he didn't have any problems.

What track was this? Dat and time?

Spa Francorchamps, yesterday afternoon (CET ). Around 16h CET.

I ran a Solo at the same time, simply stuck on the windscreen, and that thing reported 7 sats while the GPS05 (on the roof) showed 4. Doesn't make sense to me.

I don't know if it will solve everything. What you are looking at is "one lap" according to AiM, which is actually 3 laps. If you were to guess the real lap limits it's as if it lost GPS signal for an entire lap (It looks like it's interpolating between the last fix before dropping it and the next time it acquired a position).

That it loses signal from time to time is one thing, but an entire lap?

Usually there is enough GPS data to make this work. It's worth the try to see if you can fix this data file.

You should have had pretty good satellite reception when you were there. Is there anything that would have made it drop satellites at the beginning of where it went to 4?

It's on the roof of the car.

Follow up on this one.
I sent all the hardware back to AiM at the end of the season and they sent it back to me, repaired. No idea what they did or what was broken, but since they repaired it I guess something was wrong
