Default Expensive dash systems - theft - stealth install

I am contemplating the Aim MXG, but with my lean windows and open trailer, I am uneasy leaving this piece of expensive hardware to the prying eyes. Especially when I have to stay overnight and my car sleep on hotel parking lots.

What is your experience on the problem ? any stealth install on the MXG ? From what I can see, it is not easy to just unplug and stow away ?

I was thinking a stealth install may be the way to go with a magnetic cover laying on top of the dash to hide it in some ways...

What car is it going in? If it is a newish car that can use CAN and not require sensors, it would be easy to make quick connections. I often add a Deustch connector to the harness which would make it easy to pop out of the car.

It is going in a 2013 Subaru BRZ
But the whole point of going above solo dl is to get extra sensors

I have a completely open car with no windows and haven't had any trouble. If you're worried about it, I would mount the dash to a panel that goes in the car with 1/4 turn fasteners so you can remove it and then you could remove it at night when at the track. The Deustch connectors on the back of the dash are rated for 500 cycles, so you probably wouldn't want to take it out / put it in all the time.

yeah that is what I thought.. not easy to remove.

Do you think they will be coming up with a color dash for the EVO4 ?
Evo4, would offer me the piece of mind, but in 2015, not buying a color screen make me cringe a bit

I sell a TON of EVO4/G-Dash's, principally to people who don't want a blingy dash...

Big issue though is that the new dashes have the new, updated file structure that will enable synced video/data easily, whereas the EVO4 is previous generation... Lots of positives to the new generation of equipment.

That said, I have an EVO4 in my own car...

The Evo5 is supposed to be out during the 4th quarter, but we won't know for sure until that gets closer.

You can also do the GT steering wheel with the Evo4. That is a great little display in a fantastic steering wheel.

In a car that will have the dash up all the time, I would go MXL2, MXS, or MXG. The new systems have much more capability and the new file structure.

One of these days Matt will stop giving time frames on when the stuff will be released........

I've had all of these systems in open top (formula and SRF) on an open trailer. I wouldn't leave it out overnight outside of a paddock. With a lockable car I wouldn't worry about it. Most people have no clue what it is anyways. While it's off it doesn't even look that interesting IMO. I would worry more about the whole car being taken before a data system.

FWIW every AIM dash has a unique S/N. Can help in tracking down a stolen one possibly.
