Amso3 - the changes between the first and second screen shots were time and firmware updates. 
The first was taken ~ 2 months ago when I was checking something and just happened to grab the shot. The second was taken yesterday.
Sent a note to Aim over the weekend and hoping they'll have something for me.

As a matter of fact ... it just returned from Aim service today. After a short phone call (and a lot of emails with Italy), they asked to see the unit then found a board had gone bad. They replaced it under warranty 
and shipped it right back after successful tests. I'll get it reinstalled this weekend. No clue what could have caused the problem but happy with the service to get it fixed.
