Default AIM SmartyCamGP question.

Is there a "bullet point" setup (for dummies) that will allow me to program my AIM SmartyCamand GPS for tracks it doesn't have in the memory?

It's the system that comes in a 2012 Radical SR3 RS, with AiM MXL Strada without data logging.

Any help or direct to help appreciated!

Here is Roger's video on how to do it https://vimeo.com/45807596

Bullet points would be to turn on SC, open up GPS Manager (available here if you don't have it http://www.aim-sportline.com/eng/download/software.htm) then select the track you want to load on the SC on the left and hit the right arrow in the middle.

I don't know how those cars are setup, so that will only work if you have the GPS into the SC. If it goes to Strada, then you would connect to the dash and do the same thing. It will only work one way and you can't hurt anything, so no harm doing either.

Thanks Matt, yes I have GPS manager and Smarty manager.

The tracks I'm looking for are Calabogie Motorsports Park In Ottawa Canada and also Mosport (Canadian Tire Motorsports Park).

These tracks are not preloaded. I will recheck and confirm. There's an Apr. 15/2015 GPS mgr update I'm about to load.

I was hoping the GPS would record the layout.

I have those tracks in my GPS Manager from AiM, so maybe you need the update. Use the filter and start typing in the name and they will come up. Both had track maps with them.

Also look for the CTCC series track name, too.

Congratulations on the new car! I purchased my SR3 about a year and a half ago and love it. Enjoy....

LOL, of course the tracks were on GPS Manager, I just had to (know where) look. My car came from England so only a bunch of English tracks had been loaded to the SmartyCam. I'm learning.....

So far so good! Have one test and tune under my belt. Car is amazing, so much to learn and fun doing it. First race is this weekend, looking forward to it!

No worries. Keep asking questions as you need help and we'll get you up to speed. There is plenty of memory, so load up all the tracks that you will likely hit and then you don't have to worry about it.

Do you have the SmartyCam HD GP or the regular definnition Smartycam GP?

Thanks Matt, this is a great resource! Yep I deleted the British tracks and loaded the 3 local tracks I travel to.
I believe it's the bullet cam GP version, best resolution is 720p.
Actually the video from the weekend was very grainy, almost appeared to be zoomed a bit. Hope it was due to the overcast weather. Not sure if there's a setting to help this?

This can often be due to an incorrect Exposure setting under Menu>Settings.

Choices are Open Cockpit/Closed Cockpit. If you're in an open cockpit car, you definitely want to use that.

Closed cockpit should be set to the area of the brightest exposure, like this picture: http://www.aimsports.com/weblog//exposureShape.jpg

Try that first.

Can you post up a bit of video so we can see it? Maybe do it after this weekend when you have everything working right.

Thanks for the input, it is/was set for open "cockpit"

Here's a screen shot from Saturday showing the low resolution video I captured:

It looks like you might have an original Smartycam GP. Are the buttons on it black rectangles (original version) or round silver (SCHD GP). That will tell us which you have.

Pink sky looks like old firmware. Also, Video Quality is adjustable in Settings, so you want it set as High Quality. Try that.
