The Full Line of Smartycam 3 is out!
I just received my first shipment of AiM Smartycam 3 Corsa. It's the last one of the family and the direct replacement for the popular SCHD 2.1. Some nice updates are the USB C connection, 1080 video, 30 or 60 frames per second, built in ECU bridge, GPS09 support straight to the camera, and new icons including a steering wheel and motorcycle lean (for anyone on 2 wheels on purpose).
This rounds out the family from the base SC3 Sport, SC3 Corsa, SC3 GP, and SC3 Dual. The GP and Dual feature an SDI output for streaming, so you can connect to a variety of devices to stream your video to a host of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitch, YouTube, and more. I'm planning on sharing some cool streaming video and information for people who want to do it themselves.
Hit me up if you have any questions or need a camera, hit me up!

I'm looking to get one of these for my 2019 Supra. I was thinking I would pair it with a Solo2DL hooked up to the CAN for as much data as possible.
Is there any reason to get the Corsa over the Sport?
Also how do they do in low light?
Quite a few of my track sessions are at night.
I wouldn't mind the Dual but not for 3.5 times the price of the Sport.

The Corsa has an SD card instead of the mSD card in the Sport. Then the Corsa adds the ability to have a mic input, 60 fps, USB-C configuration, and front mounted screen for easier aiming of the camera.
I'll have to dig around for some real low light footage. The only shot I have is this one from my office when I was testing streaming from the Dual.

Wondering what is needed as a standalone data logger and camera? Would I only need the SmartyCam 3 Corsa and could that connect to the OBDII port on my 997.1 C2S?

Yes. That cable plus an antenna would work fine.

No. The SC3 Corsa will not manage the OBDII connection. You could use the CAN connection with the Bosch 997 GT3 protocol to get RPM, TPS, ECT, Oil T, Oil P, steering angle, and brake switch (along with some others). I have not personally tested that config. IMHO, the upgrade to the S2DL with a display is worth the price premium versus just getting the GPS09.

You can open the video files in RS3 and get good analysis of the collected channels.
Here are the connection directions for the CAN cable. Used a switched (key-on) fuse for power. If you want a picture guide on how to connect it to your car, DM me and I'll send it to you.

Thank you all for the feedback, sounds like the easiest path is Solo 2 DL with a SmartyCam 3 Sport instead.

No external mic option and uses a PITA mSD card instead of full size, but the quality and form factor is good.

Glad you brought up microphone, or lack thereof, I wasn't aware of that. So to get microphone one would need to step up to the Corsa?

The Sport has an internal mic like the rest of the lineup. It will not accept and external mic. It is also "only" 30 fps, but I don't think that actually ever matters. In a closed car, the mSD card is the deal breaker IMHO.
