Default PRI Data Report (including AiM Info)

PRI was interesting this year and lacking booths by MoTeC and a number of other companies. General consensus was that the show was down 20-30% of the normal attendees and there were a number of vendors were not exhibiting. In the data arena, most notably absent was MoTeC. Apex Pro wasn't there (Andrew had a conflict), no Race Keeper, but Garmin was there showing all their GPS products. Got to see lots of the other AiM dealers, though there were some that didn't make it. I did get to hang with Bob and Nadine from Naroscape for lunch one day. There were some new steering wheels and components from Avio Race along with their steering wheel.

AVL had a really cool brake torque sensor. It mounts between the caliper and upright where it uses piezo electric sensors to measure the forces and with a little math you can calculate how much brake torque you have. It will even show the forces and frequency that make brake squeal for the OEMs! It's also comes at the cool price of $30k!

AVL Brake Torque Sensor

As noted in other threads, AiM showed off the SmartyCam 3 in Sport, regular, GP, and Dual versions. I think the Sport and Dual will be real popular, though the regular SCHD 3 will feature an included CAN only ECU bridge. There are a few other details that might be really big with the recording parameters, but I'm waiting on some confirmations before I make note of them. Full details including the price of the new cameras is available at https://trailbrake.com/data-analysis...am-3-released/ AiM also has some really nice non contact linear sensor in the pipeline. While not as exciting for cars, they are going to be big in the motorcycle market where their super low weight and smaller form factor will be a bigger factor.

Aim SCHD 3 Dual Recorder Module

AiM had a RS3 Analysis seminar and announced some new features. Drag racing already has a special format in RS3 and there are upcoming releases for point to point (hill climb, autocross, drift, etc) and the move of RS3 Analysis from beta to production soon. I would expect this fairly soon. When this happens, they will continue the beta for some new configuration options, beta FW trials, and analysis features that are not ready for production. I think most people will be in the regular copy, but will be able to see what is happening in the pipeline in they want to.

Nice report. Nice watermarking, too. Might want to fix the price for the Dual on your site. Missing a digit.

Thanks! As you know, people often borrow photos and claim them there own. I don't like when people misrepresent things as their own.

Good to see you Matt as always! Funny how I’ve watched all of Emiliano’s webinars on RS3A and still learned something at the seminar!
I REALLY like the log sheets idea they’re working on, and the cloud storage/sharing.

We talked to the Garmin guys for a while and got some insight on a few things our customers were experiencing and some reasons why thing work like they do. Plus some thoughts on future upgrades…

Very good week. Sorry to not see a lot of vendors, but the ones I talked to said they felt the attendees were a bit more quality than quantity.

I forgot to mention too - the configuration, track management, custom sensor, and CAN sections of RS3 and RS3 Beta are the same. There is bad advice/knowledge that those portions are different, but I confirmed that they were the same.

This chart from the 2022 AiM Racing Guide is great comparison of size and features across the line. You can see how the Sport really fills a nice niche position of a simple, fully automatic camera for connection to the AiM ecosystem. The SCHD 3, GP, and Dual all give more features and the included CAN ECU bridge for connection to other data systems. I can't wait to get them!

Great comparison of the product range

Any input from AiM when their software, especially RS3A, will work on Windows 11?

I believe it works now, but I'll confirm. I'm still on Windows 10.

If they think it does work on W11, let me know, and I'll report the bugs I'm seeing.

Report the bugs! They said it should work fine, so I don't know if you are seeing general bugs or Windows 11 bugs.

Missing a bunch of dll's when I try it on W11. I'll send AiM a bug.

I had to download a package from Microsoft to install the .NET framework, 3.5, I think?
