SmartyCam videos are black in iMovie?
I've never had this problem before, but since last season I got a new Mac and updated software so maybe something's changed. The movies off the SmartyCam 2.1 play fine in windows and in VLC for Mac. However in Quicktime or in iMovie on the Mac there is sound, but the video is just black. The video preview images do work and I can even play the video in the file icon.
Any idea what's going on?

Also, as a data point Quicktime Player 10.5 (in Catalina) opened my SCHD videos from this weekend w/o issue.
I'm upgrading to Big Sur tomorrow (maybe), so maybe that'll break it too.

Actually, I forgot. I opened up a video recorded from my SmartyCam just two weeks ago and it worked like normal. No change in computer or software config I believe. That's odd. All the videos on this recent SmartyCam recording (over two days) behave the same odd way.
The version of Quicktime I have installed is also 10.5 (Version 10.5 (1086.4.2))

It's 1.04.40. I updated it before the prior event, so around June 7th.
This is weird. I tried playing the June 7th video and it was also black this time. then I opened iMovie and project made with the June 7th video worked. So then I tried the new vid's iMovie project and now it plays. But oddly the raw files still do not play in Quicktime. So I just made my vid in iMovie and even then I had problems exporting it. It failed to export like four times with an error. Then I closed iMove, reopened it and the project, and then the export worked. Allll last year this process worked without a single hitch. I'll keep doing some research to figure out what's going on.

I’m having the same issues reviewing smarty video files from VIR. New Mac Pro, audio but black screen. Is there a fix to this?
