AiM Solo 2 DL 718 Cayman S Compatibility?
I'm trying to figure out if the AiM Solo 2 DL w/ECU cable will work with a 718 CS. Everything I've seen so far has been for GT4's and mentions using a 911 CAN profile.\
I emailed AIM asking this and the response was
So - has anyone used a Solo 2 DL and ECU cable on a 718 CS? Is it missing any data?
If the Solo 2 won't work, are there any other recommendations?
I emailed AIM asking this and the response was
At this time there is not a vehicle specific ECU understanding for the 718 vehicles, and our systems. There is compatibility with using the OBDII and a generic protocol, but it is limited to a few channels of expected data.
Users report there exists some overlap with our existing Porsche specific protocols for other vehicle models, but these channels / overlaps have not been documented by our manufacturing for compatibility.

I’ve sold dozens of Solo 2 DL’s with a premade plug and play cable for the 718 GT4 ClubSport.
Plugs into the CAN port on the passenger side door sill and gets power, ground and 51 channels of car information.
Here’s the information.https://www.aim-sportline.com/download/ecu/racing/Porsche_718_Cayman_GT4_ClubSport_100_eng.pdf
Let me know if I can help. My cables are custom to go across the car and mount the S2DL in the lower left corner of the windshield.
I can supply SmartyCam GP’s with a premade cable and antenna for just car info on the background of good video, too.
I can provide regular (2020 on) 718 GT4 Solo 2 DL’s and combinations with video, too.
It’s worthwhile considering the VBOX HD2, as well. For ease of use and it’s what Porsche uses.
Reach out if I can help.

Yes, the Solo 2 DL does wired to a specific CAN pair with the 911_991 protocol.

ProCoach - just spent a bucket load of money on an AimSolo2 and SmartyCam. Connected to OBD port using provided plug. Set up Solo2 utilizing the AiM provided ECU offer config for Porsche - Cayman 981 GT4CS (ver 02.00.03) via RaceStudio 3. I run a 2016 981 GT4, not a Club Sport. Can't get even basic telemetry. Thoughts?

Best is the CAN connection. I haven't tried the OBDII CAN connection, but that is just plugging the connector in. SCHD connection is always just the one cable from the camera to the S2DL.

No brake pressure from OBDII, IIRC.

Update on this topic: I attempted to connect an AIM Solo 2 DL to a 2018 718S via the CAN harness.
TL;DR; - Did not work.
Used the suggested profile below:
Connected to the CAN bus here:
The power worked but no data.
Got some great support from Ray Phillips at Precision Driving Analytics who suggested testing for voltage at the positaps.
"With the car running, CAN+ should be around 3V and CAN- should be less than that. Both will be pulsing. If you aren't getting voltage in one of them then it is either a bad connection or a bad positap."Which I did, and the expected voltage was present and varied as required. I tried swapping the CAN harness +/- connections. No measures on AIM.
Darn. I suppose the cable could be bad? It was brand new, but...
I used an ODBII connector for the AIM with expected results, but that approach has a reduced set of channels. You get no wheel speeds or brake pressure. Since the AIM has a GPS speed calc I can sorta live without wheel speeds, although detecting wheelspin is helpful. But no brake signal is a bummer.
Anyone have any new knowledge to share?

@cbracerx That is NOT the suggested driver (ECU configuration).
You have OBDII and there is no information coming over the OBDII for the CAN connection that you have made to the car.
Now, if you CLEAR the current ECU stream and replace it with 991_911 (nothing else), you'll get what you need. Brake pressure total will appear on the brake pressure 4 channel.

THIS is your problem.
Outlined in red is why it won't work.
THIS is what it should look like.
Be sure to set your sampling rates correctly. Also, brake pressure for the camera should be BP4, throttle pedal on camera should be pedal position.
