AIM to Motec

AIM to Motec
Is a CSV export and the import the only/best way to move data between Motec and AIM analysis software? I have lot of AIM data from my previous cars that I would like to compare with the Motec data from the new car.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark, not possible easily at all. While both export .csv, MoTeC requires a specific format that takes some work. I would reach out to Dave and Ellen Ferguson at Veracity Data for assistance. Here’s a good MoTeC support thread: https://www.motec.com.au/forum/viewt...hp?f=26&t=4317
Best bet is TrackAttack.io which is what a lot of us use at the track to directly compare simple measures, without conversion. Directly import each .drk and .ld you wish to compare, select the laps and you’re done!

TrackAttack, as Peter mentions, is the easiest for basic measures. No math channels and some other limitations, but it will get you speed, GPS info, etc.

Thanks. Simple should work as once I run the new car more I will have data to work with as well as my Sim data.

Hey.
For those coming on this forum I have made an application that does exactly that.
Go check it out on github

For a person with a little to moderate amount of programming experience, would you anticipate it being very hard to modify the program to read in a CSV file with data in columns (a column for time, columns of position data, columns for each channel logged) and having the output be a MoTeC file?

At Global Track Analytics we've been able to compare AiM and MoTeC data between events, sessions, cars, drivers, tires, etc. Drop me a line and I'll try to help.

I think Mitch Minton's AiM file export to MoTeC is the best I've seen.

He’s the smartest guy out there doing this right now. He also does custom CAN protocols for MoTeC and AIM.

That still requires you have the Motec CSV file import license, which is very expensive (when I looked into it several years ago, it was like $1k for a license that lasted all of ~30 days...). Aim has native CSV export, its the Motec side that doesn't allow the import. Motec's file format is proprietary, so unless someone decides to invest the time to reverse engineer, it basically a closed system.

But so is every system. Even MoTeC has a csv export, as does VBOX and AiM. Even Cosworth.
