Default AIM Solo 2 DL in 718 GT4

Hello,
Got recently 718 GT4 and tried today to sync AIM Solo 2 DL to it.
These are ECU's the software shows me - I've tried 2 marked - didn't work.

Will really appreciate help on this

Thanks, Gennady

For the street car, 991_911 to the correct twisted pair.
For the race car, the 718 GT4 CS to the four pin DT CAN connector in the passenger side door sill.

Then you want the OBII CANBUS protocol.

Which one?
991-981-OBDII?
992OBDII?

with or without "resistor" option checked?

Or some generic option not Porsche related?

Not much. Rpm, TPS, intake air temp and manifold pressure, engine coolant temp.

There’s a lot more. Working on that now in CO and CA.

I have a 2021 718 GT4 (street version not CS) and trying to connect via the OBD-II port and I have not been been successful (after countless attempt).

ECU Stream is set to OBD_II - CANbus but no live reading of RMP. I am using RaceStudio3 (64bit) 3.35.01 to transfer/update the setting to the AiM Solo 2 DL unit.

Here are screen shots of my settings:

Uncheck the RPM measure under the Channels tab. That will help.

OBDII/CAN sucks for the 718 GT4.

991_911 is much better, but you have to connect directly to the wiring harness near the fuse box. If you want a premade cable that installs without tools, let me know.

You could try this, too. I've confirmed that many of the same CAN ID's are the same from the 981 GT4.

Best, Peter

So I have also tried with the RPM unchecked using the OBD-II connector with no success. Do I have to connect to the wire harness? I have an event in two days and don’t want to mess things up. AiM told me to only use the OBD-II, but obviously that’s not working...

thanks for you input.

In my experience, the RPM analog signal does not create any problems when on a CAN connection as well.

Yes, the CAN option goes straight to the cars wiring. Generally not hard.

If the ODII isn't working, double check the pins where it connects to the S2DL. I would also see if you can get another OBDII cable to check that you don't have a bad one or something odd going on. Since it's Friday night you won't have anything in time for your event, so you'll have to work with what you have.

Do you think there is any chance it’s the unit? I am going to check around the paddock at VIR this week to see if I can borrow an OBD-II cable and units to trouble shoot. This has been very frustrating, the last 6 weeks trying to figure it out. Again thanks for your input.

I do have the CAN cable. Is it difficult to wire in the 718 GT4?
