Default AIM Pressure Sensor - brake fluid leak on wire side?

Anyone ever experience brake fluid leaking from the wire side of an AIM Pressure sensor?

I have a very small brake fluid leak. I cleaned everything up apply the brakes and the only place I find leaking fluid is from the wire from the AIM Pressure sensor.

I'm thinking the diaphragm has a crack, fluid flows to the other side and out via the wires?

Is that possible? Has anyone experienced this?

Yes, this is possible. Rare, but possible. I've had at least two (out of nearly four hundred) 0-2000 psi sensors seep fluid through the cable jacket since the KA sensors came out.

Send it to AiM Sports in Roanoke or Lake Elsinore.

Peter: Thanks for quick reply. I was very surprised to find fluid seeping from the connection. I'll reach out to the folks in Roanoke.

Never seen/heard of a catastrophic failure on any of the major sensor brands (of which KA is one) because of the way the body of the sensor is contructed (solid metal), in DECADES of doing this.

But, it's unsettling for sure.

yeah, seepage rate is very very low and peddle still feels very firm. But any brake fluid outside of the system is unsettling.

Contacted AiM and was told my unit (PRS-839 S/N 266794) was too old to be covered by any warranty. They also said they did not have any in stock and they were currently on back order.

I'll be reaching out to dealers to see if anyone has one in stock.

I hae checked with the six largest dealers, including myself, without success. I am supplying a MoTeC sensor in the place of the KA sensor, runs about $208 plus freight.

I have KA / AiM brake, oil, and fuel pressure sensors in stock. I can ship tomorrow for anyone who needs them.

Most expedient to get one from Stable Energies or Matr.

AiM Italy got their latest batch of KA today to reterminate. It'll be a short while before they're sent back.

Last I checked, Pegasus, OG, Discovery Parts, Winding Road, Precision Auto Research, Veracity, Summit, Joe Hullett and I were out of the KA oil pressure and brake pressure sensors terminated in 719 Binder connectors.

We also have the 0-2000 KA sensor in stock if still needed.

Thanks everyone for the follow-up. This is such a great community.

Matt's sending me one today. He even checked his inventory to find one with the length of cable that I needed (seems the cable on the new ones are shorter). THANK YOU

Add me to the rare list of a brake pressure sensor failing with the fluid coming out on the wire side. In my case is was coming out of the electrical connector. Yes, the fluid stayed inside the wire all the way down to the connector.

BTW, the was the third brake sensor failure I've experienced in the last 1-2 years. The first two just stop reading correctly.

Yep, mine leaked out at the connector also. Depending on age it may be covered under warranty: contact AIM with serial number. Mine was too old, so I bought a new one from Matt, who had quite a few in stock.

That is frustrating. I haven't heard of any failures recently. If AiM can't help you out, let me know and I'll do what I can for you. I have a bunch in stock and can ship today if you need it asap.
