wheel refinishing recommendation
I am in South Jersey and considering refinishing the wheels on the car. Looking for a mobile business where they come to your location and the wheels stay on the car. Has anyone here had that work done and can you point me in the right direction? Thanks

Check with your local dealer to see who they use. If they don't want to divulge you can ask any local aftermarket wheel supplier and they should be able to help. There is usually a handful of mobile repair guys in a larger metro area.
I had my DD wheel repaired by a mobile repair (dealer paid for it) and the outcome was good but not perfect. The wheels had curb rash (purchased it that way) and they essentially pull the wheel off the car and use a lathe inside their van to machine the surface down in that area. I can see where the machining was done. They do blend the area around the repair with the machining so it's not immediately obvious fro 4FT.
The paint finish may also not be as glossy or match perfectly but it will certainly look better than a worn wheel.

Thanks M Blue. You wouldn't happen to know what the dealership paid for that refinishing? The reason I ask is I can buy four completely refurbished wheels for around $600 plus shipping so wondering how the mobile service prices compare.....I will ask a local aftermarket wheel dealer for recommendation.

Unfortunately I do not know what they paid, the repair was negotiated up front when I purchased the car. I do know that a complete wheel restoration should cost about $100 - $125/Wheel. If I had to guess, a mobile wheel repair should cost half of that.

Damage to your wheels can come from: curb damage, wheel weight scratches, low acid spray, lug nut impact wrench, auto accident, and road salt, which leads to oxidation. These blemishes can ruin the appearance of your car; refurbishment can help retain its value.
Replacement costs for an alloy wheel can cost hundreds of dollars + 3-4 days without the vehicle) but the restoration of your scuffed alloys and scraped wheel rims makes your whole car look pristine again

• Mobile Wheel Repair (US, UK) - http://www.mobilewheelrepair.com/
• Wheel Repair UK - http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk/...ce_details.php.
Be cognizant that serious damage to a wheel may affect the vehicle’s alignment and subsequent steering, always check for structural damage (i.e. surface cracks) or deformed rims, which should always be replaced. Shop cosmetic / appearance wheel repair- approx. $100 –150 per wheel, usually 48 hours (dependent upon geographical area)

This must be a record for dealer mark-ups: a few months ago, one of the local Porsche dealers quoted me $2,600 to repaint my high-end, after-market forged wheels. I managed to get the name of the shop they sub-contract it out to, and then contacted the sub directly, where I was quoted $900 (note: both quotes included dismount, sandblasting and other prep, same paint and other finish work, mounting, balancing, and reinstall). Really?!? A $1,700 dealer mark-up? I mean, I get the fact that the dealer would have to handle deliver to a place 30-minutes away, and provide storage of the car in the interim, but that was eye-opening. Granted, I didn't haggle either -- end up selling the set as-is and bought a different set. Yet another reason I use my Indy shop (who is extremely knowledgeable and focuses on Porsche's) for virtually anything possible.
