Default CilaJjet Disaster

I think I made a terrible mistake.

Letting the Porsche dealership do this to my new 2020 992 C4S.

Whoever did this (12 year olds?), did not clean the car properly before applying. It went over bugs, dirt, and missed whole areas. They added scuff marks, swirls in the black plastic, and there is a paint "correction" area that looks like they went too deep.

Does anyone know if this can be fixed or if they could have permanently damaged the paint in areas where paint correction went wrong?

Underside of mirrors not cleaned or Cilajet-ted.

Told them not to do the interior, but they managed to get some on the seats (rag, hands?). Won't come off; may absorb in time.

Paint "correction" gone wrong?

Where are you located (can't see on the mobile app)? So we can make recommendations.

Get your car to a skilled professional detailer in your area. Force the dealership to pay the difference (what the detailer charges minus what you already paid) to make this perfect.

Do NOT allow them an opportunity to "try and fix" this.

I am in the Washington DC / Baltimore metropolitan area.

Yes, they offered exactly that - to "try and fix it."

At least they were embarrassed about it.

Anyone know a top-notch detailer and ceramic person in this area?

Sorry this happened to you.

You were smart NOT to allow them to correct their actions.

I'm confident a pro can set you right.

Ask in the active 991 Forum for a top-notch detailer.

How much was this mess from the dealership? This will easily be $1,800 to make right.

This was a brand new car (applied at 3wks old) and it was $1000-$1100 if I remember.

Dealership just called and they tried strong-arming me into letting them do it again.

Appreciate that they faced this issue head on and actually called me, but I got off the phone shaking mad.

Man, in a world that is a constant ****-storm, you would hope that Porsche could be that refuge. Not so in this case.

Do not let them work on it again. Unfortunately dealers are not experienced in this type of work and if they are having someone else do the work for them I would not wan them working on it again. Try to get them to agree to fix it but at a shop of your choice. Best of luck.

A dealer pulling this kind of work? Unacceptable. I DO think you should share the name dealer so folks know to stay away!
I'm going to toss another vote in for GlasWerks - during the paint analysis they did prior to wrapping my 991TT in PPF, they discovered some paint inconsistencies on my rear bumper. Adrian and team took care of it so I'd recommend you hit him up.

Hey, were you ever able to have this adequately resolved?

Hi Mark et al,

Yes, this was all resolved. It went this way... The dealership refunded the CilaJet cost (well, after badgering them for forever to actually send the refund, then again when the amount was wrong). They also offered to pay for any damage done, which Adrian at GlasWerks said was not likely (except for the acid-etching on the rims). Turns out the paint wasn't irreparably harmed.

So, the short of it is that I did select Adrian at GlasWerks to fix this mess. He did paint correction where it was needed and applied a full PPF (Stek). All I can say is that Adrian is the real deal. You have to pay for quality, but you're rarely disappointed. In my case, I'm thrilled with the outcome and he now has another vehicle of mine for other cool stuff. He did some window and sunroof tint, which remarkably lowered the interior temps when I park in an open lot at work. Note: He was also the first person that reached out and is amazing at communication and follow-through.

I learned that these cranks at the dealerships use an acid dilution to clean the car (because it is cheap) and that is what likely settled on the rims and may have etched them (permanently?). We'll see if those spots start looking funny after the rim ceramic wears. Bottom line, and I will do this in the future... When you buy, have the car delivered directly to GlasWerks. Don't let the dealership summer help get at it with a rag. And for God's sake, don't F with that SillyJet stuff.

So unlike my last garage queen (2011 Boxster Spyder), this one I'm actually driving. You all drive your cars right? I mean DRIVE them. I commute country roads 2,000+ miles per month and there is no other car (than a Porsche) that I would rather do that in. If yours is sitting in a garage, then there is a "substitute."

Thanks for all the suggestions and help on this forum.

Glad it worked out! Congrats on the new 992! Agate gray is an awesome color.

I use Cliff Beaubeau, located right near PCA's headquarters, for clear film. Fair prices, excellent work and easy to deal with. I'll keep GlasWerks in mind if I need paint correction.

Who do you recommend for PPF and carbon spray in Baltimore?
