Default Another Wheel Well Cleaning Post - With a Question

I needed to fix my brake pad sensors as one sensor giving me grief. Also had to replace the oil cooling fan switch. So, I got the "while I'm here" syndrome and thought I should scrub down the wheel wells. Wow, with nothing more than Simple Green MAX degreaser and a brush they came quite clean. No steamers, no high pressure blasters - just elbow grease and water. 18 yrs of crud mostly gone.

Gratuitous pic's with question at the end -

Left Front-

Right Front-

Left Rear -

Right Rear (no before shot and this was the worst. Everything was Black)-

As you can see from the pic's the PO must have had to large of tires on the car at one time and there are rub marks. The worst on the left rear.

Anyone have any suggestions on removing that embedded black rubber rub mark? I can pick away at it so it is possible to remove just not in my lifetime at the rate Im going. I tried WD-40 and Goof-Off already. Ive also done a search without success.

Always use the least abrasive product first-

(a) A safe solvent (Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) Simple Green® Aircraft & Precision Cleaner, Stoner’s Tarminator, Mineral Spirits or Kerosene
(b) Detailer’s Clay
(c) A chemical / abrasive paint surface cleaner (Zaino Paint Cleaner Z-PC or Zaino All-In-One Z-AIO)

WOW that tire really rubbed........I would try what you already did.......which didn't work....everything else would remove paint too.......I dunno......maybe let the good off soak in for a little bit.....or CAREFULLY apply a solvent that will eat the rubber.......but thats pretty toxic stuff...... Clean wheel wells sure look sweet.......heres some pics from the last time I did mine!

3M automotive adhesive remover. If that doesn't do the trick then the 3M eraser wheel will. The Eraser wheel is about 4" round and looks/feels like rubber. It's white and most auto stores have it. Carquest or Napa for example. It's real name is something like "3M Stripe and Decal Remover".
Keep us updated.
