Good Mechanic in Chicago (West Suburbs / Wheaton / Glen Ellyn)
Hello all,
Looking for a good independent mechanic for a 997. I live in Wheaton, a western suburb of Chicago. Thanks! Dave |
What are you looking to have done exactly? Just general maintenance or something special? Engine, suspension, tranny, etc. There are a few shops that specialize and some that are good for general work.
I'd call Joey at G Design in Elmurst or Sol at Perfect Power in Buffalo Grove. |
Thanks, newGTS. Just a general guy for basic things... In my last 996 that I had, when I lived in La Grange, I had a guy I trusted (Mike and Henry's in Western Springs). He did basic work, but also some pretty involved stuff too which required dropping the engine, etc. I'm looking for someone I can trust for 80% of the stuff I'd encounter. Not tranny work, or anything that crazy, but almost everything in between.

I trust Midwest Eurosport in Bensenville - 1000% with anything to do with my P-cars.
|
Rick & Peter fisher (Fisher motors) in Barrington, Porsche street and race cars mainly. That is if you head up this way.
|
Chicago Performance & Tuning in Melrose Park. Speak with Al.
Several of us have our p-cars owners only trust him and his shop. Stop by and see for yourself. www.gocpt.com |
This will be a useful list I hopefully need very little!
I'm just a town over so I'll be curious to hear where you end up for your cars needs. |
We are also in Downers Grove and can help you out with anything you need on your car.

does any shop in Chi town have the PIWIS system? I would like to install a new steering wheel and sport exhaust both of which require dealer activation, I believe. Rather not go to a dealer.
Thoughts? |

Rent the Durametric tool and do it yourself after install!
Ummm I didn't think you can do it with Durametric. It requires activation code from the Mother Ship to activate I thought |

I would rather avoid the dealership if possible. I have never used Napleton Porsche in Westmont for service (hear mixed reviews) and they are our local dealer. If you find a shop that can do this, let me know! |
We have a PIWIS tester III but for the enabling codes it must be done at the dealer. All other things we can do.
