I am looking for a high-quality installer that can show examples of their work on 997's or 991's.

I've gone to Abt Electronics, but they are pushing the K40 RL360 over the Escort 9500ci. I have not seen very many positive reviews of the K40 (other than the install is cleaner).

If I go with the Escort, there are display heads that need to be mounted and I'm looking for an installer than has experience with the 991.

There are some good examples of great installs in the forums, but they are not near me (either coast).

I've searched this and other forums and most of the posts are outdated.

Answering my own question for those interested.

Went to Abt Electronics in Glenview, IL to get a quote. They have a decent YouTube video of a K40 install on a 991 and a decent warranty/guarantee. The quote I got was for an Escort 9500ci install with laser in front/rear, radar mirror in red (radar-mirror.com) for the text display and placement of the controller with buttons in the ashtray with custom plastic piece to blend in with Smoking Package. $2,925 installed. The K40 was $2,300 with the LED by the tach. I'm probably going with Abt and the Escort 9500.

As an alternative, a few friends suggested Showtime Audio in Chicago. I have not pursued this one.

I'll report back post install with pic's.

If you haven't gotten this done, talk to Eric Bronke at ABT. Good friend of mine and a GREAT installer, was voted as top 10 in the country a couple years back.

I just had ABT do it picked up the car today! Pretty happy with the Install. I didn't feel they were pushing K40 over Escort. Ultimately I chose the escort- but honestly I could have been pushed either way. I'll post the install pics shortly. But basically- readout in the ashtray; controller attached to right side of center column (needs to be moved because the seat almost runs into it when I drive (short legs)); LED drilled through the small plate between the steering column and the instrument panel- figured it was not an issue to drill since the piece is easily replaceable.

I like ABT..been buying stuff from them for 30 plus years..

Install photos...yes- the car requires a serious wipe down- just came back from the installer...

Only issue for me is the control module needs to be moved forward a bit. Can easily see the LED had them only reveal 50% of the bulb.
