Austin Area Meetup (Cocos Corner, 0800ish, 6 Jan '19)

Hey y'all,

Based on a good idea from avc2014, anyone interested in a meetup this weekend for some Porsche talk and associated hijinks?

I am, and anyone else interested is welcome to meet here on Sunday morning @ 8. I'll be there for a while (30-45 minutes, static depending on how many show) and if you don't see me parked, catch me down on Lime Creek somewhere.

I know there is a C&C at COTA on the 20th, but maybe this can fill the gap and get us away from 'value threads' and 'check out how awesome my decision (and ego) is' BS.

See you there or somewhere in the hills soon.

Lime Creek

I am in for Sunday am.
Guys, lets get a few cars together and enjoy what is supposed to be a great winter day in Central TX.
Stacy, Lets consider the back roads west of Lime Creek and do a pass on Cow Creek rd off of 1431. If you dont already know this road , trust me, you need to know it.

Hi Stacy,
Saw you guys planning. Definitely include me next month. My car will be done in 2 weeks, but the next day I have to go over seas for 10 days.

Have fun!

I'm planning on being there, with likely a couple with their Cayman GTS and Cayman R coming along too. I want to see one of the wonderful T's everyone is talking about.

I'm flying home from SF the night prior, so I might pass on this, but if you see my "LO L8NC" plates, that's me. I'll try to post something here either late Friday night or Saturday morning.

austin area meetup

Enjoyed meeting everyone this morning. In spite of the gravel roads, pot holes, and water, it was fun getting together . Lets try and do this again, maybe we can expand on this and get more austin P car owners out for the next one. ( Now if we can just figure out how to shut down Cow Creek road and make it our own ? )
Thanks to everyone that showed up. Maybe someone else took some pictures ?

Great morning with some great drivers! Thank y'all for making the early Sunday worth it. Hope we can do it again soon. Drive safe!

Ha! When I saw this I misread it as being in the 19th.

Hope you all had some fun!

It was indeed a good run with better traffic than I expected. Our leads knew some great windy routes off the main path that made for a good day.

Sorry you missed it!

I am kind of bummed I didn't see this thread sooner! Is there a group distribution list that I can join? Would love to meet and drive :)

bplein 01-07-2019 07:56 PM

We should start a "Hill Country Texas" thread here in the Central, and then we can subscribe for updates.

That was a great run -- rallying up Cow Creek with the group was a blast. Good people. We have some fantastic twisties around here, just waiting to be driven. Most definitely setting the schedule to "recurring event."

I just drove up Cow Creek yesterday and much of it is gravely and rough. There’s a lot of ranches and homesteads that you need to be careful of as well. Inhad multiple trucks towing large trailers coming the other way, necessitating quick slow downs.

There are probably better roads for group runs.

I'd love to join y'all on the next one. Uh, assuming not too much gravel. ;)

I think the Hill Country PCA selects prescreened, manicured roads for their tours. I represent a very small group of 2 (and possibly growing) who refer to ourselves as the Alt-PCA. It's not for everyone.
