Default How to remove front bumper on 2012 CTT

I am having a Passport 9500ci installed and my (reputable) installer said they can't get access to the front grill to mount the sensor and laser shifters without removing the front bumper. However they don't think they can easily remove the front bumper (they have worked on earlier model years). They were also advised by a body shop that the cruise control sensor would need to be re-calibrated if the bumper got removed.

Is it that difficult?

Does the sensor have to be re-calibrated?

Has anyone done a 9500ci install on a 2011/2012 CTT in the SF Bay Area?

Thanks!
Charles

Here are the steps I used to remove the 2011 CTT front bumper:

Tools needed: 25 & 30 Torx, 10mm socket, headlight tool from stock tool kit (or allen wrench)

1. Remove the plastic cover over the radiator
2. Remove the headlights
3. Jack up the front end and set on jack stands (I place the stands under the A-arm frame rails)
4. Remove the front wheels
5. Remove both inner wheel housings
6. Remove the front under engine cover
7. Disconnect the 3 electrical plugs under the bumper on the passenger side
8. Unclip the headlight washer fluid hose from the bumper and tank clips (if the bumper can stay with the car, the hose is long enough that it doesn't need to be disconnected and drained)
9. Pop out the corner marker lights and disconnect the bulbs
10. Remove the 2 clips on either side on the bumper piece between the headlights and radiator opening
11. Remove the 3 bolts on the bottom at the back of the skid plate
12. Remove the 2 bolts on each side behind the corner marker lights
13. Remove the 3 bolts on the top of the bumper in front of the radiator
14. With one person on either side of the bumper cover, carefully slide the bumper forward to remove.

Putting it back together is just a reverse of these steps. The only part of this that was even a little difficult is refitting the wheel inner covers. Make sure everything is back where it should be before tightening the dozens of screws. Pay special attention to the cover where it meets the brake cooling channel since there's a little tab it needs to fit in.
