Burmester might be a good brand with good technology, heck I even have it in 4 Porsches, but the application of it in these cars and whatever housing or grill cover they set the speaker in is terrible. Rattles quite often even with bass below neutral setting and volume low. Service techs will say it’s the speaker and replace it under warranty, but the same issues appear again. Magically when the door is open, the rattle stops which has me thinking it could also be a seal issue with the door. Just very poorly applied to the Cayenne in my opinion.

Sorry to hear. Zero rattles with Burmester in my T.
I know there have been other posts saying if the Burmester was worth it or not, but I want to chime in on my opinion. I would consider myself an audiophile and truly enjoy sound systems of the vehicles I’ve owned. Buying my Cayenne coupe turbo, the burmester option was a MUST for me. I never heard it before purchasing (CPO vehicle) but in other vehicles I have always chosen the upgraded system. I’m coming from a 2021 M5 with the Bowers and Wilkins system. We also own a 2023 Alpina X7 with the bowers system. Overall, I would say the burmester system in the Cayenne is NOT worth the price tag when buying new. While the sound is powerful it is not precise. The door woofers are given way too much power and the highs are shrill. Door panels rattle and overall I can not get the sound “dialed in”. The Bowers system BMW offers, everything works harmoniously to provide great sound. However the system in the BMW could use a bit more power and does not get loud enough. The Cayenne has the opposite, too much power and no harmony. Overall, I would rate the system a B+ and at the price point it costs new, it should be exceptional. Would like to hear what others think?
Yes i agree. I just bought a 2015 CTT w the Burmeister upgrade. While it's much better than the Bose, it's not as good as a my 2011 Cayenne where I replaced all the bose speakers and sub with a custom system built for the Cayenne.
The Burmeister has too much mid bass and not enough deep subwoofer bass. It's highs are OK, but not as refined and fast as my custom install on my 2011 Cayenne hybrid
That said, its 3995 price was reasonable for the upgrade from the Bose. I think the Burmeister head unit controls have more usability than the Bose. But i am a bit dissapointed thst it's DAC won't read FLAC files from USB keys.

Came here for a clear resolution and am more confused now.
Some background: I have a 911 Turbo S (992) with Burmester and have to be honest that my Tesla Model S sound system sounds far better to me in comparison. Burmeste seems to have a weak low end bass and voices sound slightly metallic to me. All in all a bit mushy. Before arguing that it might be the source - I use the exact same phone and app as source in the Tesla vs Porsche - so that's not it - and I tinkered with all settings available.
I am planning on replacing the Tesla with a Cayenne and need to decide whether the options is warranted. Anyone here that went from a Tesla to a Bose (or Burmester) system that can chime in? How bad is the Bose system really?
(At home I run a Accuphase/B&W system - so yes somewhat of an audiophile)

Also use B&W, Sonus Faber, Mcintosh, Classe, e.t.c at home in multiple systems and I like good quality systems and sound. If you do not use Tidal Hi-Fi and wired apple car play then there is no reason to go for the Burmester. i.e uncompressed audio and making sure the system receives it uncompressed.
@psyduck007 I understand that you know this and it is not the source but what are you using now to compare?
Typically Tidal Hifi for music and Spotify for podcasts. Via Bluetooth only on the Tesla and USB cable on the Porsche. Not sure it actually uses the USB cable though - might also be a Bluetooth connection (?)
The recommendation is to get the Bose and wait for. @12v Nick
Wonderful. That's what I shall do. I did forget to mention that I had a loaner 2023 Panamera while my 911 was in service the other day which was equipped with a Bose system. It wasn't terrible.
Helps that @12v Nick shop seems to be close to where I live.
I enjoy music with tight bass. I’ve had the Burm on a 911 GTS and a Macan GTS. The Burm won’t win any sound system contests but it is a good to very good factory offering. On our Cayenne GTS Coupe order, I didn’t check the Burm box since it’ll be my wife’s DD. She still listens to AM radio. When we test drove a ‘24 Panamera, the BOSE didn’t sound too bad. Maybe, the BOSE got better?! Probably not. Oh well.

I ordered my 2024 Cayenne S with Burmester audio mainly because my 2016 Carrera GTS came with it and I found it impressive...I can actually hear the audio over road & exhaust noise. One of my employees let me borrow his 911 Turbo w/ Bose and that's when I discovered the Bose cranked up sounded inadequate and was unable to be heard over road noise.
My wife bought a 2024 BMW X7 w/ Bowers & Wilkinson audio system, which is also impressive. We both agree the Cayenne Burm sounds superior.
Only vehicle audio system I have found that sounds better than Burm was the Meridian in a Range Rover we had previously.
IMO, it is well worth the additional cost. I do a lot of road trips and enjoy my diverse Spotify collection as I speed across the U.S.

One thing I noticed about my 24 Cayenne S is that Android Auto will take over the music and run Spotify through it.
Spotify sounds world's better through the Porsche hosted Spotify in the PCM. The volume levels and clarity are distinctly different through AA. I found that I could stop AA from doing this by going into Devices and disabling it until I have a need for it.
