Mercedes GLE 450 Vs Cayenne S
Hello All,
So drove the 2020 GLE 450 today for ****s and giggles even though I'm getting the Cayenne S in 2 1/2 months. I was impressed with the tech but as far as the ride, handling and performance it was just
alright in my opinion. I'm happy I decided to order the Cayenne and this just reaffirmed my decision and I'm glad I experienced it! It's just not as sporting and seems to lean more to comfort and softness
and less to the performance side of things. It's a nice car but more soccer mom feeling where as the Porsche is just more performance oriented and nimble! Just my two cents.

Not a fair comparison, 367hp Base GLE450 vs 440hp Cayenne “S”
I drove the GLE a few days ago and I agree that it’s a more comfortable ride but also it felt faster than my 2019 Base Cayenne.

The GLE 53 would be a better comparison to the Cayenne S.
I wanted to buy a GLE 53 but decided to get my first Porsche and ordered a 2019 Cayenne E-Hybrid. The interior of the new GLE is nice but the outside not so much in my opinion.

Also MB depreciates a great deal more than Porsches.

Think all cars in general drop over the long term but Porsche seems to hold their values better then other brands and it's been documented by different magazines I've read recently. Look no ones buying a Cayenne as an investment but nice to know maybe you'll get a few more bucks come trade in time!

That’s not true. Porsche cars require lots of options which are standard features in other luxury cars. By the time you trade in your Porsche, the salesman would say they don’t really consider the values of the options!!!

I think that's right. Porsche hold value longer if you have lightly optioned one.

I don't mean to be snide toward you -- just Porsche, and the Germans as a general rule. I think it's absurd that a $67K Cayenne comes standard with rubbery vinyl surrounding some cheap leather bits that would look out of place in a $35K Accord EX-L. They were gonna get our $5,740 for Club Leather with our S build; they got our $2K for that stuff on our Turbo.
You don't want to pay for leather, says Porsche? There's the door. Been nice talking to you. Don't let it hit you on the way out.

Good thing Porsche includes full leather for free across the model line. No such thing as a $6K leather upgrade on the Cayenne, right?

Drove the GLC53 AMG followed by the Cayenne S. The Mercedes has garish details, the ride of an old fashioned buggy and questionable stitching in the leather. My lady friend in the back just about kicked me in the head and asked to be let out on the sidewalk-that’s how bad the ride was. For 20k more the Cayenne was a much better vehicle.
