2019 Cayenne Battery

good luck! If enough of these issues come up, eventually a recall may be forced. Surprised that PCNA has been rejecting these claims on 4 year old cars mostly with low mileage and most are probably garaged not exposes to elements (maybe this is not statistically true but mine is always garaged when not in use, as are most of my friends with Pcars...)
this is the second low battery issue I have had since November 2022. It is obvious to me there is a defect in the battery or charging system and eventually they wont be able to ignore it.

AGM Cost to Replace?
Reading all of these horror story posts about lithium batteries got me to wondering about the AGM battery in my 2022 base Cayenne. Is it essentially off-the-shelf and otherwise ordinary? Or, does a Cayenne AGM battery also have specialized internal circuitry like the lithium battery that will be costly to replace? Anyone know?

With an AGM battery you are fine. The lithium batteries have an internal BMS that has been a disaster...

Photos below - looks like 4 fuses hanging off the positive terminal and a sensor on the negative and possibly also on the positive (blue & white wires). Of note - the battery part number shows up on a VW parts site as "no longer available," and I cannot find the number on any Porsche parts website. On the Varta battery finder website, you can search for a battery for a 9YA-series Cayenne but this battery doesn't show up. Rather, a much smaller 60a-hr battery with a different part number is located.

If you go to the Varta website and search on the Cayenne 9YA, the site comes up with the battery in the photo - same part number, same 60 amp-hr rating. Interestingly, for cars like mine (‘22 base) that came with an AGM battery, that battery has the same part number but it’s rated at 92 amp-hr.

AGM can only use about half its rated capacity where as LFP can go far higher at 80-90% depending on how hard you want to push it. The skew in capacity you see between those two is reflecting that difference.

Here is my $2250 replacement battery. Hoping antigravity has an aftermarket alternative by the time I have to replace it again.

Unfortunately only the dealer has the LiFePoS batteries in stock.
And yes, they programmed the battery as "new " etc. to enable appropriate charging algorithms to be used.

1. who physically installed your new battery?
2. who carried out electronic manipulations to either "code" or "register" the new battery?

1. Shop foreman at Porsche of Nashville
2. Shop foreman "registered" the new battery in SUV's software.
