Instrument Cluster Display

The answer, as far as I can tell, is: no. There seems to be very little audio/music functionality in the steering wheel controls and instrument cluster. In my Cayenne, it's possible to control audio volume up/down and mute on the left steering wheel controls, and if you set a custom view for the right controls you can see in the cluster what station you're on if you're listening to the radio or if you're listening to music from your phone you can see what track is playing. That's it. Why Porsche didn't implement more audio functionality in the steering wheel controls and instrument cluster is a big letdown. I don't understand what genius came up with the idea of forcing us to take our eyes off the road and one hand off the steering wheel to change a station up/down or to change the source (without wasting a diamond button function), let alone to see what's playing (if listening to Sirius or phone) or coming up (if you're to your phone). My 911 shows all of this information in the cluster and more.

My 2019 Cayenne S works as previously described. Very limited audio controls on the instrument cluster and steering wheel. I have found voice control to work quite well for most audio functions.

I have set my diamond button on the steering wheel to advance forward on the media, whether it is Sirius xm radio stations or music on my sd card. Porsche could have easily put radio buttons on the backside of the steering wheel if they thought there are too many buttons on the front of the steering wheel.
I don’t like that with Sirius xm it only advances the station on the channel list and not stations on my favorite list.
There are a few technology issues where it seems Porsche is behind other manufacturers.

it’s an absolute disgrace that my $100k+ car doesn’t have speed limit display on the HUD or the clusters and that in order to change music I either have to look away from the road or use voice control. Great car to drive don’t get me wrong but massively disappointing on that front. On a side note the heads up is useless compared to my 2018 e63. The direction little square is barely readable it’s so small.

This is something that I hope Porsche North America is looking at. All here seems to be software related. Can Porsche NA take a look at this?

Almost all other cars nowadays allow you to have audio functionalities on the steering wheel, I am shocked they don’t have this on such an expensive vehicle. Seems like they only care about performance and not everyday usability.

What is strange about the features being discussed in this thread are that the audio controls and the speed limit signs used to be in the display. Hard to understand why they removed these features but it is possible that they could add them back with a software update.

This has always been true of Porsche. They have made great strides in the past few years in terms of electronics. You buy a Porsche for the way it drives and have to tolerate the lack of some features or their cost. Excellent cars that have the other features are out there and usually are a better value. Head scratching sometimes for sure but for me, the driving dynamics always convince me that I can live without the seemingly easy to implement convenience features.

I own the 2019 Cayenne S, and also find it utterly ridiculous that we can't get the speed limit display on Tube 1 and the HUD - wasted a lot of time trying to figure this out! If your PCM screen is set to something other than the map, then you cannot see the speed limit display at all!
Another puzzling issue - on the PCM home screen, if you use one of the tiles (panel) for the A/C function, it shows the Synchronize button, the Ventilation Off button, and the A/C Eco button, but NOT the A/C On/Off button (even though there is space for this on the tile). Since this tile on the Home screen is a shortcut for the A/C functions, it's puzzling that it does not show the A/C On/Off button! Can anyone verify that this is the case, and I'm not setting it incorrectly?

This isn't a perfect solution, of course, but I've found it better than always having to activate the full Nav screen just to see the road speed limit. Plus, I find it easier to activate the Home screen than the Nav screen (especially using the touch-buttons on the console).
