New DFW TX 2016 Cayenne 3.6
Hello Everyone,
Just picked up a new 2016 958 for the wife. I am very technically & mechanically inclined so I hope to contribute to this forum as we go along.
I just performed the 10k mile oil change myself, now trying to figure out the cheapest way to set up on-board ODB2 interface that allows oil light reset. Ive read several threads so far and will advise.
Looks like I have to take care of the x-fer case, appreciate the heads-up on that. I will change the fluid before 20k and look at the vent for possible re-routing etc.
I also have to figure out the best way to clean and lube the leather seats. They need a light clean now. I would like to clean with something gentle for the long term and then apply a conditioner that wont get stuck in the perforated holes. Most leather conditioner I have used will build up over time and makes its harder to maintain.
Any other suggestions are very much appreciated - thanks in advance!
FYI: The last European car that I had was a 1987 MB 560SL convertible (red). I bought it from my grandfather, I performed a complete undercarriage and engine bay restoration over 5 years while driving it on the weekends. Fun car, loved 100 mph+ but pointless to have a convertible in TX, either too cold or too hot.

Hey gkoenig, i hope all is going well with your Cayenne! What do you mean by "oil light reset"? You can try "iCarsoft POR-II Porsche OBD-II Scanner" or "Durametric", both can be easily googled for how to buy.

Or the iCarScan - that's documented here (actually in the main Cayenne forum..) Works. Cheap compared to other solutions. There are also people hacking the VW interface to work with a Cayenne. That's probably even cheaper.

iCarsoft PORII, cheapest way out for resetting any of the maintenance reminders that come up. Amazon Prime.
I use it every 5,000 miles to reset the oil change reminder.

yes, some people in this forum also use 'icarscan', which i think has a dongle device which can connect with cell phone wirelessly. You need to install an app on your cell phone for that.
