Court Approved U.S. Volkswagen / Audi / Porsche Diesel Emissions Settlement

The following information concerns settlements with the United States and California (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, California Air Resources Board, California Attorney General, and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission); and the owners and lessees of Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche vehicles equipped with 3.0-Liter V6 diesel engines.

The Court has approved settlements with Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. and Porsche Cars North America, Inc. regarding emissions from Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche 3.0-Liter diesel vehicles. If you are eligible, you may submit a claim now on the claims portal.

The settlements include these 3.0-liter diesel cars:

Current owners and lessees of Generation One vehicles can choose one of the three following options:
• A buyback of your car or an early lease termination, plus cash; or
• A trade-in of your car;
• A modification to your car to improve emissions (if approved by EPA and CARB), plus cash.

The buyback cash payment includes a pro-rated refund of any nonrefundable warranty or vehicle service plan purchased from a dealer.

Current owners and lessees of Generation Two vehicles will be offered a certified emissions repair if one is approved by the EPA and CARB, an extended emissions warranty, and cash. The certified emissions repair will bring the vehicles into compliance with the original emissions standards without materially reducing vehicle performance.

If a certified emissions repair for Generation Two cars is not approved by the EPA and CARB, then the buyback, trade-in, and lease termination options would become available.

While the EPA and CARB are testing Volkswagen’s proposed repairs and determining whether to approve them, eligible owners and lessees of Generation Two vehicles can choose to receive a Repair Participation Payment – half (50%) of the total compensation they will be entitled to if a certified emissions repair becomes available – and will receive the rest of their compensation when the repair to their vehicle is completed. Class members can also choose to wait and receive 100% of their total compensation upon repair.

Owners and lessees of Generation Two vehicles waiting for a certified emissions repair are entitled to a “bridge warranty” covering repairs for conditions that arise after January 31, 2017 and before the repair occurs.
Some former owners and lessees of Generation One and Generation Two vehicles are also eligible to receive cash. Former owners must have identified themselves on the official settlement website by May 1, 2017 to be eligible to submit a claim for benefits.

All right. Free money, both from VW/VAG and another $1,500 from Bosch.

My 2012 Touareg is being bought back and then $$$ from Bosch.

My wife is getting $$$ for her 2015 TDI along with Bosch $$$.

My 2016 CD is getting $$$ and the Bosch $$$.

It is like the TDI lottery where everyone who played, won.

If there were to be a buyback of the Gen2 3.0L motors/vehicles, I'd have to get a 958.2 S. All the rumors have EPA approving a Gen2 fix/modification any month now.

Moving threads to new sub-forums has been a challenge on RL. The original thread makes an interesting read but what matters most now seems to be is how much each person gets. The text above is from today’s VW email for those who need the links to make a claim.

Interesting. We haven't received any emails from VW in the last few days. I registered on the site, got my estimate and uploaded all my documents, but that's it, so far.

I uploaded the required info May 20 and got the confirming email today (May 25) that my information was accepted.

Got my email this morning that everything was accepted and my case will now be reviewed by the legal team to make sure I'm eligible.

I am entitled to $9700 from Porsche and $1500 from Bosch for my 2015. They have another key date in October and a drop dead date in 2020. I don't intend to do anything until I know everybody is happy with the fix, or until I am ready to trade.

All my documents have been accepted for my 2016.

Just need to get the release notarized and sent back, then wait for the acceptance before scheduling the first money-grab.

My 2012 Touareg is going back 07/11/2017.

I'm planning on purchasing a 2014 Porsche Diesel from a non Porsche dealer. Is there anything that I should be concerned with before I purchase this vehicle?

Plug in the VIN into the VW site in the first post to see the rules and check for a previous claim registration. Next have a Porsche dealer run the VIN through their network to verify it has the settlement 6 year extended warranty.

Thanks.... put a deposit on a 2014 diesel Cayenne. I owned two diesel Touaregs 10,12. Best cars I ever owned.....on top of BMW,Benz,Ford and Chevy. VW is buying my 12 back. Couldn't find a low mileage diesel Touareg to replace it. I found a diesel Porsche 14 with 15k on it. The car is pristine. ($48500)

I purchased a Cayenne diesel. Should I undergo the emission fix from Porsche? Will effect performance, MPG?

No one knows what the fix is yet. There are rumors going around but no true information yet. Look at the long diesel thread and it will give you some info.

Some say that MPG will be impacted others say it is just increased adblue consumption and others say that there will be a software change and possibly new exhaust parts. The truth is noone is sure yet as VW has until Nov of this year to propose a fix.

Make sure you register for the recall. I think you can get 1/2 the money so in your case it could be as much as $5k from Vw.
