Three Wheelin'
Just finished a weekend trip.
Atlanta to Charlotte Motor Speedway for a track event, then to Harrah's Cherokee casino in the mountains for a concert and back to Atlanta. She did great, with 13.5 mpg overall at 65-75mph, even with all the mountain driving. Oil temps did get up to 266 a couple times climbing some steep hills though, only driving at 50. Also, I think I might have killed a brake on my trailer. One wheel only had a ton of brake dust when I cleaned it up after the trip today.

with the mirrors properly set, I can see fine. I adjust them so I can't see the side of the vehicle unless I lean in either direction. Also, I have a wireless rf rear view camera mounted on the back of the trailer that projects on a windshield mounted 5.3" screen, so I can see directly behind me at all times.

You guys towing the cars/car trailers - Do you all have the air suspension? I see very little squat from the 500-600 or so lbs of tongue weight.. I'm debating heavily if the PASM is an absolute must have on a new-to-me CD, or just a "nice to have, but not a dealbreaker"

Here's what I tow- a 22' enclosed trailer (with an additional 2' vee).
2013 Cayenne Diesel
So far, it's towed the car and trailer all over the East Coast with nary a problem.
What's inside?
This- a Superlite SLC (Porsche content: It's painted Porsche riviera blue)

Kinda surprised actually. I did spend more time than usual making sure I had the exact right hitch height.

Danke! I'm pretty **** retentive with hitch height and tongue weight as well (I literally twitch when I see a rig with the tongue pointed at the ground and the nose of the tow rig in the sky), so glad to hear that squat is minimal. My current tow rig is overkill for the trailer so I didn't have to worry much about tongue weight, but I still tried to keep it within the 'best practice' range. I'm very relieved to hear that I won't miss the PASM as much as I would on something else. It's near-impossible to find that on something in my price range and "must-have" options list in pre-owned.

After my experience towing with the V10 Touareg TDi with air suspension, I searched hard to find a Cayenne diesel with PASM when the time came to replace the Touareg. For me, it would be a deal-breaker not to have air suspension.

Isn't PASM is a stand alone option and then there was PASM + Air? So having PASM wouldn't do anything with the ride level, just the stiffness of the suspension?
Either way, 5-7K is a small load in comparison to what many more people tow without air in many other vehicles. Saying the happiest people tow "small" loads, compared to your "big" loads of 5-7K is a bit presumptions and even pretentious, too. Even putting it all into the Cayenne perspective, I suspect those towing at max weight with steel springs are just as happy as those with air... and even more happy when they see air systems break down.
