Got my 2012 Cayenne S about three days ago. I noticed when starting the car and from a very slow start a bit of a whine I can hear in the cabin. It could be nothing as I'm just getting used to the car and not used to the noises and quirks.

I also noticed the RPM tach when cruising at say 80mph kind of twitches like it's not set in all the way.

In my 2015 S I have started to notice a slight whine when accelerating from lights. I thought for a bit it was coming from the stereo, mainly because experienced bad grounding on stereos in older cars. But was wrong, it is coming from outside the vehicle and more so the passenger side than the driver side. No idea what it is, guess will schedule a dealer visit eventually for it.

My '11 S has a certain amount of engine whine at parking lot speeds (which also can be felt through the steering wheel). I find it a bit annoying, but my guess that the additional 'flavor' is an intentional reminder of the old air-cooled 993 sounds.

Quite possible. The ATF in there has gotta be either very low or heavily degraded, though...

Failing blower motor bearings can also create a variable audible whine within the cabin which will vary with engine speed. Turn off the fan switch and listen.

Wheel bearing noise will usually be worse in one turning direction vs. the other... say the right front wheel bearing is going bad... you might hear only a very SLIGHT noise (or no noise) while traveling in a straight line or when turning right (a right turn unloads the right tire a bit), but turn to the left and you load more weight onto the right wheel and the bearing noise will get quite a bit louder in the left turn. And the harder/higher-g-force the left corner, the louder the bearing noise will get (for the right front or right rear). As the bearing continues to wear, you will get to a point you will hear bearing noise while traveling in a straight line. The whine could be a number of things under the hood... power steering pump (I think the 955 & 957 have hydraulic power steering right?) and water pump come to mind first.

Took her into the dealer today to have them check. Seems the blower motor bearings is the culprit, they ordered the parts and will install next week.

Also mentioned the snow tires could cause some noise/hum at low speeds in parking lots which I didn't even think of.
