Unhappy 2014 Cayenne S Rear Tire Replacement @24.5K miles

I went to the dealer for service and was told that my rear tires need replacement at 24.5K miles. My front tires, however, may still have some life. My 2014 Cayenne S has 19' factory Pirelli Scorpion Verde M/S - 265/50R19/XL 110V. Dealer told me it was common to see tires last this long (or short to be more accurate) for this vehicle/year. My previous 2009 Cayenne's original 18' Michelin lasted past 5 years/40K miles. Questions:

1. Is it common for the 2014 19' factory tires (esp. the rear ones) to last just past 2 years / 20K miles?

2. I'm debating about staying with Pirelli scorpion verde or Michelin Latitude HP Tour. Other options would be Pirelli pzero or Michelin Latitude Sport 3. I'm looking not to change tire every two years if possible. Not that I cannot afford, it's just a hassle.

Any thoughts/experience would be appreciated. I will drive in snow/ice in winter.

Thanks.

Conti DWS-06. Long lasting, good ride quality, OK handling, and it's an all season that works pretty well in ice/snow until it gets below the "S" molded in the tread.

I am also using the Continental DWS-06 and like them a lot (DWS= dry wet snow). There is a Treadwear value for each tire model/size. Tires with "A" treadwear last the longest, "B" less miles before they wear, and "C" even shorter life. This treadwear value actually seems to be fairly indicative of which tires will last longer than others. If you want longer treadwear, look for tires with an A Treadwear rating (This is on the sidewall I believe as well as available at tirerack.com and elsewhere). There is also a Traction rating that works the same way. A Treadwear of A and a Traction rating of C would be an under-achieving tire. So if you can find something with A Treadwear and A Traction, you've got a pretty good tire... if it is available in your size. Also, tire ratings on tirerack.com can be helpful, but you have to take some of the reviews with a grain of salt because the tires may work differently on some other brand/model of car/truck than they will work on yours but you can see trends and find out if some tire is particularly noisy rolling down the road or whether it squeals too easily in corners, etc. You can find out things about tires you are considering on tirerack.com that you won't find out from a tire store... things that can actually help you make a good choice.

I'm in FL and have Michelin Latitude HP Tour 19s. I see all the tires at 25K miles are about half worn. Have your tires been rotated regularly and when was the last wheel alignment?

Pzeros are garbage, at least they were on my GTI. Totally different vehicle I know, but they were bad enough where I'll never buy them on any car I ever own DWS are great on my S8.

Mine is 2014 Base on 18" Goodyear LS tires. Fronts need replacement at 23.5 kMi Rears may squeeze out another 3-5 kMi . Both fronts and rears worn more on outside edges evenly on both sides. There some small pieces of rubber disintegrating on front tires. From what I read on tirerack comments all Cayennes need new tires at 23-25 kmi regardless of brand, dealer told the same. Alignment was checked and realigned around 10,000 Mi

2014 CS with 18" wheels. Replaced all four at about 26,000 miles. Could have squeezed a couple of thousand more out of them, but winter was on the way. Mike

Also ask to change alignment. I run as low camber as possible and zero toe.
And since I run empty 98% of the time and load distribution is 55/45 forward I run equal tire pressure all around. Then increase rear tire pressure when I tow or load car. This changed my tire wear from 12k to 25-30k miles but I run 295/35/21. So very low wear rating.
You do the same and you should get 40k out of your tires.
