Not sure that gets anything more than $500. But I agree, though I do want more documentation and solid evidence first for those of us with problematic vehicles. Our '14 continues to run well, post fix. I'm going to do an acceleration test against them for 0-60 and, eventually, a dyno for both.
Side note, I will be in Bellingham 9-June for the Porsche 70th event. Let me know if y'all would like to compare notes at Boundary Bay.

True, but I wasn’t commenting on the engine. I was commenting on the delay coming onto throttle, which would be some sort of engine software management issue. Plus I had driven pre-fix Cayenne diesel loaners and they seemed identical to my Touareg.
Regardless of the different engines, is it unreasonable to expect that the Cayenne would be at least as responsive as it’s less expensive corporate sibling, the T-reg? Because the VW was very responsive coming onto throttle in sport mode. The fixed Cayenne, was horrible in both regular and sport modes.
My 14 Touareg has the fix and the sport mode lost some of its throttle pep. The extra lag is annoying as well. Vehicle feels like it's being choked. Need some sort of tune.

You can check Malone tuning, which the VW forums seem to be quite familiar with. I would not mind paying for a tune if that is reversible for warranty work. It is my understanding that while the engine tune may be feasible, the tune for the transmission is another matter. If you decide to check Malone, let us know what are the results
I had my first substantial tow (~ 410 mile round trip from CT to NH) with the fixed CD. I discerned no differences in it's ability to tow compared to pre-fix. I'm towing a 24 foot enclosed car trailer, total weight of the trailer + car is about 7000 lbs. Someone else had earlier mentioned they thought the fix killed their towing, but my CD did not have anything like that happen.
My reported mileage was 15 for the return leg (the trip up had some non-tow miles on it), which is about where I was before. I didn't fill up to hand calculate, but my computer reports about 1-1.5mpg high, depending on the mpg, so it felt about the same. I spent most of the time doing 70-80mph.
I had lack of power and shifting issues before the fix and the turbo was replaced under the goodwill CPO. The SA said they were related somehow. Ran fine except under WOT the car would start bucking in top gear until letting off the diesel. So I just tried to drive a little calmer. After the fix the transmission one time slipped on take off and on the same drive had the bucking again. The wife didn’t want to drive it anymore so we got a Macan S. Less room in the back seat, close enough cargo space with the rear seats down but a third less MPG. So far so good.
I spoke to one of my friends with Audi Q7 TDI with the fix. He hates it. He is getting about 3 mpg less, the car is noisier as others mentioned here, driving is not as smooth. His biggest complaints are increased oil & DEF consumption (he did NOT have to add oil prior to fix between oil changes). He is having to add DEF between oil changes. While VW/Audi oil change interval is 10k, he follows 5k interval, so oil consumption and DEF consumption is certainly concerning.
I have not gotten the fix for our 14, and I am going to wait a bit longer and revisit it later.
A tune doesn't affect that specific 3rd gear low RPM "lag" - it just makes it scoot quickly once the turbo spools up.

Agreed.. From what I've read both from enthusiasts and tuners, the encryption used on the Aisin control unit has never been cracked. One clever Touareg Tdi owner has apparently swapped out his TCU for a Cayenne TCU, so I guess someone who wanted to be clever could try and find a pre-fix Cayenne Diesel TCU to swap in.. but it sucks that it's come to that.
I got my 2015 CD back from the dealer after they replaced the DPF. The car was throwing the following codes: P05A300 and P040300 and failed the DPF short test. Here is my work order:
My SA said the replacement DPF is a newer design than was delivered with my car. The part had to come from Germany so I was driving a gas guzzling 2018 base Cayenne for almost a week.
