We have a 2013 diesel that is off-road at lot in the Northwest. On the Magruder Corridor & Lolo Pass we went from 3,800 ft up to 8,000 then down to 4,000 in less than a mile. With the diesel 'fix' looks like Porsche will neuter our downhill assist. This is a specific that they want to do from their fix document -

"Downhill Driving – Removal of the enhanced automatic engine braking feature may require drivers to apply more brake pedal in downhill driving."

No, I don't think it does anything to the downhill assist. I take it to mean that under normal driving, it will hold the transmission in a lower gear to assist with downhill speed control (that's what I've observed that it does, anyway). The fix will not let it hold that higher RPM. Seems like a byproduct of having the engine rev lower to emit less, to me.

Push the hill assist button, though, and I think you'll still get that full feature's capability.

At least that's the way I read it.

Remember is year or mileage, whichever comes first. For me, the CPO warranty may expire in 2019 and the fix warranty in 2023. I may wait till 2019 before doing the fix (assuming I interpreted the provisions correctly)

I’m going to get the Fix but not in any hurry to do so right now. Between the engine out oil Fix, and waiting for the sensor that leaked oil again, we’ve been without the car two weeks in the last 6 months. Plus I’ll wait for the dealer to get a few fixes under their belt. Probably do it in January.

Not what the Bosch gal said. Then again, seems Bosch folks aren’t as knowledgeable as compared to the VW/Porsche line.

That’s because you sorted out the visit to the dealer (Pre approval) and had VW register you well before the 23rd.

It states quite clearly in the Bosch settlement that it's not tied to the VW settlement in any way. There should be no issues with having to get your car fixed to receive payment. Ask them to prove to you where it states otherwise.

My shop owner also has a 2013 CD. We're looking to book some dyno time at the shop next door for both our cars before and after fix...
if I can make the time to do this I will.

That would be a great "independent" test.

EPA and CARB were doing that too (i.e. with the test groups) and that was to form the basis of the MPG and power degradation part of the settlement. Since we've heard nothing to that effect thus far, either 1) no issue within tolerances, or 2) everyone's silent until a consumer complains (which will probably happen regardless).

PSA. Be sure to leave your fuel tank as empty as possible as they will fill it up for you as part of the agreement.

I wish I had access to a dyno - I'd do a lot of before/after. And frankly some of it wouldn't be the usual "WOT" test.

I drive mine with 50% throttle most of the time. Pull out into traffic, give it some pedal but not WOT, generate some thrust, truck shifts at 3000 rpm and clicks through the gears.

That's the use case that I'm concerned will be affected. I'd want before/after of that scenario.

I received an email from VWGoA this morning. in it, I can still get my vehicle verified at the dealer and receive partial payment for the settlement. So I've got that going for me, which is nice.
