My wife has a 2014 Panamera S e-hybrid, and it has had it's share of electric troubles. I think it's about to go in for its fifth issue regarding electric mode failing to work. I am not surprised diesel is being abandoned. Electric is the current flavor for so many cars.

Lets see, take a powertrain that pushes along heavy vehicles at amazing speeds, sips fuel, is very reliable, refuels in minutes and can cross a continent on three tanks of fuel and then abandon it. This is a political decision, not a product plan.
