Agreed. PCNA and VAG offer only what the legal settlement requires and it didn't require a "new vehicle" warranty, rather a limited powertrain warranty.

Until someone goes in in a few years to get something non-drivetrain related fixed under warranty, I'm not buying it.

After further review, I think I've figured out the warranty screenprint I posted earlier.

Line 1 - "New vehicle warranty" is the 4year/48000mile Extended Emissions Warranty from the date/mileage of modification (4/10/2018 59273 miles) 59273 + 48000 = 107273 miles (172640 km)

Line 5 - "New vehicle warranty" is the 10year/120000mile Extended Emissions Warranty from the original in-service date/mileage (3/27/2014) 120000 miles (193000 km)

Line 4 - "Pre-owned warranty" is the 2year full coverage extension. The original warranty ended at 50000 miles on 6/12/2017, so it's extended to 6/12/2019

The 4/48 and 10/120 Extended Emissions Warranties run concurrently.

Basically, this CD has full coverage until 6/12/2019 unlimited mileage, and emissions coverage until 3/27/2024 or 120000 miles (whichever occurs first).

Hi all, new member here. Funny how timing works out, but I just joined Rennlist as I’m in the process of purchasing a 2014 CD Platnum Ed. (same car as schwarz633), and I’m scheduled to complete the deal this Saturday. Based on my conversation with the dealer, I think (but I’m not positive) that Schwarz633’s interpretation is correct. I’m going to confirm my warranty with the dealer, and will be calling PCNA today as well. Schwarz633, if you could confirm your interpretation with the dealer as well, that would be helpful. I realize these are 2014’s, and that it may be different parameters for 2015-2016 models. Thanks all.

I sent this in the PCNA contact form:

I'm considering purchase of a 2014 Cayenne Diesel VIN: WP1AF2A27ELA43009.
It currently has 62,000 miles. I have inquired at a local Porsche dealer regarding the warranty status and was provided a screen print that's confusing to say the least. I believe the original warranty period commenced 3/27/2014 and it apparently hit 50,000 on or around 6/12/2017. Obviously it has exceeded both the 4 years and 50,000 miles, but I have read that this warranty is extended as part of the settlement. Please explain what the current status is. Thanks.

And received this reply:

Dear Mr. xxxxxxx

Thank you for reaching out regarding your interest in joining the Porsche family! We are thrilled to hear from you!

All new Porsche vehicles are equipped with a New Car Limited Warranty that exists for 4 years or 50,000 miles from the original in-service date, whichever occurs first. The original in-service date for VIN WP1AF2A27ELA43009 is 7/25/2014. Once your New Car Limited Warranty expires, either by time or mileage, the Porsche Approved Limited Warranty will begin and extend an additional 2 years, unlimited miles.

Mr. xxxxxxxx, I hope this helps and you have a great week!

Kind Regards,
Doug T.

I don't know why the in service date is different, but at this point I've pretty much read enough in regard to post-fix problems and complaints to have abandoned my quest for a CD. This would be a daily driver for my wife, and the last thing I need is to hear her constantly complaining about steering wheel vibrations, or unpredictable throttle response. If I were to find a suitable optioned car in my <$40K price range that had a longer full coverage warranty than the one I've mentioned, I may still consider it. Until then, I'm looking for a high optioned 2016/2017 Q5.

Interesting, per schwarz633's pasted in e-mail from PCNA, the Mothership quotes the extended CD warranty as 2 years. unlimited miles on a 2014 model year. I thought it was 2 yrs/up to 100,000 miles for model years prior to 2015; and 2 yrs/unlimited miles for model years 2015 and 2016.

It was 2/100 for all diesels. That is strange.

"It was 2/100 for all diesels. That is strange."

skiahh, it was a two year/ up to 100k warranty extension for model years prior to 2015, then 2 years/unlimited miles for the 2015 and 2016 model years. Shcwrz633's post above suggests it is 2years/unlimited miles for a 2014 model year, which I have not read anywhere before.

That's why it's all so confusing.

And my printout doesn't really help matters. The new vehicle warranty is listed as a 10 year warranty on that one! Sheesh.

Anyone know the coverage details of dieselgate warranty?

I know drivetrain and emission parts are covered but what about accessories on the motor like alternator, water pump and electrical bits. This is essentially the value difference in CPO extended coverage of +2 or +4 years from original factory warranty.

chsu74,

The two year warranty extension offered by Porsche is an extension of the original bumper to bumper coverage, and thus should cover the "accessories on the motor like alternator, water pump....". Most of us agree that the 2015/2016 models have an additional 2 years/unlimited total miles added to the oem 4 yr/50k warranty. Prior to model year 2015, the warranty extension was 2 years/100,00 total miles. A quick call to PCNA with your VIN # should get you exact confirmation of your warranty coverage.

I am asking about details on accessories warranty coverage around the drivetrain from year 7 to 10 and 9-10 for cars with the 8 year CPO; not length of coverage. That is clear.

Originally when I first learned of this "discrepancy" I was pretty frustrated and expressed some of that with the salesman because I felt it was somewhat deceitful and I was ready to throw in the towel, end my search for a CD and find a completely different vehicle. Drastic and emotional response for sure but this was at a time where I had been searching for 2+ months and ran into a few encounters with, what I feel was, some other deceitful listings. Example: a dealer had a vehicle listed that I was VERY interested in and so I inquired. I noticed the pictures of the odometer were roughly 9-10K miles different from the stated mileage. I questioned this and was told the pictures were not current (obviously) and were from BEFORE the stop sale was issued. That is absolutely ridiculous to me, especially from a Porsche dealer.

However, the most recent dealer I have been working with on a CD reached back out without my provocation and vowed to honor the true CPO. So the offer now stood to be a $45K (dealer fee included) 2015 CD with ~29K miles, tow package addition included and 5 more years of bumper to bumper warranty ending in 2023. I couldn't say no to that opportunity.
Nackem, would you mind sharing which dealer you bought yours from? I am looking for a very similar Cayenne and am in Virginia. PM me if you you prefer.

Thanks
David

heymatey,

"4yr factory,2 year diesel, 2 year CPO, for a total of 8 years."

Interesting, but the PCNA rep does not come out and actually state that it is eight consecutive years of warranty.
It seems to be a pretty small sample of folks that have been informed they get 8 years of consecutive warranty from in service date with used CD purchase from Porsche delaer+Dieselgate warranty+CPO warranty.

"..for a total of 8 years" (emphasis added) seems a pretty equivocal statement of eight years consecutive coverage.
