Is Two Cayennes 2 Too Much ?
So as some of you know our home here in Texas got flooded in the Harvey mess. That included my Porsche garage and in it taking out my then new loaded up 981S with 1500 miles. I haven't replaced it either. Before that however, with enabling from the Cayenne board here, I had already pretty much decided to order the new 2019 Cayenne for my wife which I am still going to do. Her SUV and my truck did not get flooded.
But I have been casting around for something fun to drive and to let my daughter and me drive too. Ive looked at 370Zs as I used to have Zs. Nice enough, not spendy, and at least it has a 6 in it. Some BMWs like the 330i. At least they haven't gone up much since my days of owning them - but they have crap motors. And so it goes.
Hmm - - then I saw a 2010 and later a 2011 Cayenne GTS. I always liked the looks of the 2010. In the GTS it looks good. And with a V8 - what could go wrong. Uhh yeah. It still says P on the hood.
But seriously I wouldn't mind to drive it. It has motor. It looks good still to my eye. So what that it likes gas. As long as it is mostly reliable without big bills for repairs.
But it does bring up the question of is 2 ( insert Porsche model of choice here ) two too many?
And then, if and when I replace the car, it could really be fun - or really ugly.
I saw a buddy do this with Range Rover. He got one and his wife was taking it all the time. She said she wanted a Rover too. He balked. Somehow a weekend at the beach and a new Rover Sport was got for the wife. And as much as I thought this is going to be a nightmare mess with Rovers tag teaming the shop, it didn't happen. He got his daughter guess what - yeah another Rover.
And besides that, on these Cayennes people don't think they are 911's (yet) and ask all kinds of inflated prices for an 8 year old SUV. They've go that going for them too.
So have yall done it? Yeah the 2 Fer . Thanks.

I traded my 2016 BS for a 2nd Cayenne diesel. Lots of reasons, but ultimately, it was the right choice. So we have 2 CDs in the garage now and it's not too much at all.
<=================
At some point, I'll probably add a Targa back into the mix... unless I decide to buy an airplane with that money.
But no, 2 Cayennes are not too much. But I'd go for a diesel for your second one. Not as visceral as the GTS, but plenty of oomph, 30ish mpg and, theoretically, very long lived! And, as a bonus, you can get a "new" 2016 (that is, unpunched) diesel still, now that the fix is available.

Go for it.
I've had my modded 06 CTTS for quite some time and bought an 08 CTT for my wife two or three years ago. Blown a couple turbos, blown a couple engines, replaced a couple engines, did some not-so-minor repairs and my indy probably dreams about pulling 955/957 engines all night but why not.
At 6.95 USD/ gal (our price for 100 octane gas) and geting about 2gpm in my CTTS, at least my wife knows I'm not spending money on hookers and blow.
Oh yeah, I'm casually looking at a couple 2012+ CTT/ CTTS as a new DD for me and wifey. Gonna ditch her 08 and keep my CTTS as a toy so that's gonna make me an owner of 3 pigs.

We started with a 2017 Macan then added a 2017 Cayenne S (CPO), in part because we felt 2 Macans made no sense. We enjoy the similar but not identical pair. Each has its strengths. Look for a CPO Macan?

Tex,
Wifey has 2 Cayenne GTS; a '17 and a '10. For some (unforunate) health reasons she has only 1,800 miles on the '17 (after 1.5 years), and she has 31K on the '10.
I think having two Cayennes is OK. She has told me that she much prefers the looks, the sound (sport exhaust) and the torque of the '10, but the '17 has nice electronics and power (meaning hp).
And huge difference in the fuel economy, since I am in charge of car washes and refueling. I will be selling the '10 next month.
GL to you.

I was kind of basing it on price, cool, and performance for what I can buy out there for similar money. The 2010 GTS still looks cool and with its 400hp on tap Id guess its enough to get up in this thick traffic.

Wife and I ended up doing this with two diesels. Originally picked up one for her, but I was really impressed with the combination of refinement and performance. Add in the ability to get upwards of 30mpg and the time saved not having to fill up every week. Fast forward a couple months and a properly optioned one showed up for sale close to home and they offered to deliver it. Also, having the same type of vehicle really helps our exceptional child with transitions.
